Happy anniversary!!
Happy anniversary!!
Photo of building with sign that says "Powell's City of Books."
Finally made it to one of my bookish bucket list items!
I still have all 54 main books. π They were my obsession growing up.
I reread some of them a few years ago and they hold up shockingly well
Book cover for THE INFINITE STATE by Richard Swan, book 1 in The Decurion Saga. It features two stylized birds of prey, one gold, one red, against a backdrop of a field of stars.
I GOT NETGALLEY APPROVAL FOR THE INFINITE STATE EVERYBODY STAY CALM.
Thank you @torbooks.bsky.social!!!
This week, I'm recovering from a real reading disappointment by diving into (yet another) isekai-style fantasy adventure. After that, it's on to a fantasy romance inspired by the legend of a Morrocan warrior goddess!
I had a lovely time, curtesy of #DelReyBooks, with #HebaAlWasity βs debut #Weavingshaw!
A Gothic Fantasy Romance with the right amount of yearning enemies and an awful lot of ghosts, that fits comfortably within its genreπ
I scrolled through Goodreads after I wrote my review because I was curious what others thought....oof.
THE BOOK OF FALLEN LEAVES makes a valiant attempt to be the next great dark political fantasy, but is just too slow and muddled to succeed.
Thanks to Orbit Books for the ARC!

Review:
A bit of a rougher month, lot of "mid" books, with one standout exception. Hopefully some better reads in March!
Look at me, writing a review within 24 hours of finishing a book! Am I getting my mojo back?
A "Currently Reading" graphic listening the following: The Book of Fallen Leaves by A.S Tamaki (ARC) - 88%. The Butcher's Masquerade by Matt Dinniman (audiobook) - 80%. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood - 50%.
Weekend Goal: Finish some books!

Also I will die on the hill that Colin never wrote a book and was passing off someone else's memoir as his own.
THANK YOU

Today I'm reviewing THE RED WINTER by Cameron Sullivan! πππ
I loved this take on the werewolf. It did a brilliant job of weaving together different parts of history to tell a harrowing and bloody tale that spanned centuries. 4.5β
Thanks to Tor Books for the ARC via NetGalley!
"THIS KINGDOM WILL NOT KILL ME is a smart and engaging portal fantasy that grounds the story by taking the stakes of its fantasy world seriously."

I absolutely loved:
The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson (court politics and murder mystery at a competition to choose the next emperor)
The Lost Reliquary by Lyndsay Ely (divine warrior hunts for god-killing weapon so she can kill the god she's bound to)

AAAAAHHHHHHH
Happy Book Birthday to THE RED WINTER!
I read The Fox and the Devil by Kirsten White. This book felt like what would happen if Bram Stoker wrote The Devil in the White City.
Come see if I thought it worked!

This week, I've finished off the tale of a woman hunting an immortal serial killer in turn-of-the-20th-century Europe, and I'm now reading a samurai-inspired epic fantasy!
Come see what's on deck!

It's kind of exciting when you don't have your next read planned, it could be anything!
