Femininity must be obsessively and literally policed, meanwhile who gives a fuck what the boys are up to? It's probably fine and if it isn't it's because we aren't policing feminity enough.
@periapocalipticdad
gender keeps happening to me and i want it to STOP! auto-deletes posts. often earnest/cringe posting about stuff i have no expertise in tech and local life i suppose. a cyborg glitch stuck in the epistemic hegemony! read books, not posts.

not sure anyone today is excited for "confederate-themed space western written by cancelled sex creep with gamergate chud as core part of the ensemble"
This great thread makes a point I hadnโt seen before. Software engineers are now in a position familiar to UX but new to us: we have the ability to make and iterate on mocks before shipping. Instead of trying to condense our process and produce MORE, we could use the same timeframe to produce BETTER
the idea of an accountability sink is very powerful i think. if i could explain one thing about Systems (with the capital S) to the world, it would be that. the book is a great intro to it.
my review of the book was "I'm in the stafford beer camp of systems thinking (cybernetics) so the first half of this was a treat. I'm not entirely sure I agree with the conclusions but I'll be thinking about this for a long while and reading some referenced works! The author is funny and fun!"
"In other words, this is a particularly valuable book for readers who geek about lots of different systems that involve people." ... oh ok that's me. might just put that on the 'ol resume lol.
he must not work with many neuro-spicy folks because you touch someones face without asking in my house and you're likely to get punched rofl
to be fair there is also often a bit of "the boss said i had to use this tool" mixed in there as well.
well. i'm required to do it for "performance" reasons. i mean i guess i could LOL. if it were public i'd be more snarky and less resigned lol
it's a very stupid way to do a monte carlo simulation.
the same goes for determination automation, probabilistic prediction models, and data extractors; if they aren't specifically around language analysis, why use an LLM? the answer almost always comes down to, we don't want to invest in doing it right, the appearance of correct is all that matters.
(because i live in hell) i am giving a talk on how to (not) use LLMs in your products. a big section is 'don't use LLMs for things you can do with other tools better'. we already know how to run simulations (with AI even) why use an (expensive!) LLM?
i mean ... if i gotta talk to teh "war is inevitable" people i suppose i could be the "ok but can we at least agree that bombing schools is bad" guy.
sometimes fiber helps mitigate (like i can eat popcorn with butter pretty ok.)
but basically use a nutrition app to figure out how much fat you're eating in a meal and gradually increase it until you experience symptoms and that's your cap.
this'll change esp over the first year so you'll be able to increase the grams gradually probably
macros are the macro nutrients: protein, carbs, and fat. i have a max per meal of fat due to the gallbladder and a protein goal per day for other reasons. i didn't actually count carbs it's too much like calories for me and i get dysregulated.
that being said i still do. last week i had a big bowl of ice cream and i suffered. ๐ ๐ซ
for me it got better over the first year as my body adjusted. i count macros now so i know how much fat I'm eating in a meal and that helps too. like, i know what my limit in grams and i know what happens if i go over. so i don't have to skip anything but I'm motivated not to overindulge.
it smells so nice outside. like good mud.
good work here. lots of context its easy to miss while doomscrolling.
yoda saying "begun the ai wars have"
i've had my gallbladder out for years now it is not great. โค๏ธโ
Digital art of original characters Aran and Tao as young adults in their early twenties at a laundromat late at night. The pic has a slight fisheye view and we look straight ahead into the laundry room, where Aran kneels at the ground in front of a washing dryer in putting in some clothes and Tao is slightly behind him, half sitting half leaning at one of the tables and looking down at Aran and smiling. It looks like they could be in conversation and Tao is aging something funny and light hearted. The colors are more fee ish and blue and muted, with some bright fluorescent light on top and some green glow to emphasize the feeling of late night in a dingy little laundromat with neon lights. ๐๐ฆ

can't help but feel like i'm living in the background reel of an intro to an old Carpenter film.
i take the "you're everyone in your dreams" view of dream interpretation so in this case: i am concerned about caring for the (my?) children but also feeling principled in not doing work for fascists (my job?) thus creating a dream-worthy conflict.
last night i was dreaming that trump wanted me to run propaganda to convince people to have less children because "we can't afford any more kids" when the storm hit and i woke up thinking it was bombs. in case you're wondering where my address is at! ๐ฌ๐ซ
same!

the stupid commentators already showed up too!
