I was theorizing about this over on threads but to summarize I think there is a direct link toward the demand for readily adoptable children and the immigration crisis. We are seeing parents deported and families torn apart so other families can be created, imo.

It was always white couples and they always said it because of stereotypes about Black children.

because I was an abused kid I always took pride in it then but I wish I could have said “the secret is she beats us!”

One thing I experienced as a Black adoptee that I didn’t realize was racially motivated until I was an adult was when my family would go out, white couples, usually older, would approach my mom and say “wow, they are so WELL BEHAVED! What’s your secret?“

There’s likely a racial bend to these cases but i didn’t see any data on that in this article
