I'm afraid it might be a rock worn in a shark tooth shape. Where was it found? There are lots of fossil shark teeth to be found in Maryland, including Megalodon teeth!
It's all so dumb. Freedom 250 Grand Prix of DC??
The city does not want this!! Shame on those who caved to Duffy and the Admin.
If you're in DC, let @mayorbowser.dc.gov and DC Council know how you feel.
Others, maybe let the sponsors - Penske and FOX Sports - know how you feel, too.
MLA, ACLS, and AHA lawsuit reveals use of ChatGPT in illegal termination of grants by DOGE. Motion for summary judgment asserts violations of the First Amendment; violations of the Equal Protection Clause; and violation of the separation of powers. mla.org/NEH-Lawsuit
The MLA, @acls1919.bsky.social, and @historians.org have filed a motion for summary judgment in our lawsuit to restore the NEH. Discovery documents reveal that DOGE rather than the acting chair led grant terminations and targeted grants using ChatGPT. More at mla.org/NEH-Lawsuit

Lindsay Graham has got to go.
Oh, interesting...thanks for sharing!
Wow, you have to send in the bucket? My PCP allows you to collect a sample at home and drop it off, but it's just the teeny tiny scoop and the vial. No bucket drop-off required. I wonder why Cologuard requires so much "specimen."
Yesterday we rallied. Now let's get to work. ACTION STAND UP FOR SCIENCE standupforscience.net/take-action
Rallies and protests are great to raise awareness, build solidarity, and spark momentum, but we have to do more to actually stop how the current administration deals with science. Here are things to do next: zurl.co/T8nFb

A little, but still wish I were!! Thank you for everything!
I hope this thread goes a short way toward making up for my absence at @standupforscience.bsky.social DC. I am standing with you. Please share pics and vids!!

Don't forget to add any information you can about why this all matters to your district or to your state, as well as the nation. Why is what's happening bad for the local, regional, or national workforce or the economy? What does it mean for the future of your district or state? Relevance is key.

A thread...
Of course, you can also call your Congressperson and speak to their staff or leave them a voice message, but do your homework and prepare. Speak to what matters to you, but also to them. And share news resources to back up your personal story. Say, "as described on Science Friday..." or "in Nature."
If you're not sure which committees your Congressperson is on, visit their website and they'll be listed. Also, most Congresspeople list "issues" they care about on their websites. See if you can relate your story to any of those issues for greater impact. Then, find their "Contact" form & share!
You can also share your story with organizations like @aip.bsky.social, or your professional societies if they are doing advocacy work, like @agu.org, @aibsbiology.bsky.social, or @aaas.org. Also, orgs like @planetarysociety.bsky.social & @researchamerica.bsky.social

In addition to sharing what's happening generally, it is REALLY important to tell your personal story to Congress. House Science Committee Democrats even have a web page for that (see banner at top of page): democrats-science.house.gov
Another, related, issue is the lack of new or renewed notices of funding opportunities (i.e., calls for new and renewal grant proposal submissions). If there are few calls to which researchers can submit proposals, money certainly can't go out the door.

Congress, especially the appropriators, need to understand that, even though the fiscal year 2026 budgets were authorized by Congress for the science agencies, it seems the federal Office of Management and Budget, led by Russ Vought, is holding up the allocation of program funds. This means...
