An inspired, strong finish.
Todayโs lucky find. So much back matter that covers process, including script excerpts and sketches.
More rounds are coming up for me! I must be strong.
Went to the dentist. Left side of my face is still numb so this is how I feel right now.
I love Tulaโs work! Thanks for putting this on my radar.

What did you read this week?
Dear Up and Coming Comic Writer,
If you want to transform from "writer" to writer, you need to stop thinking about the story and actually finish your script. No one is going to create an opportunity for you, you need to create your own.
Spent the day writing and watching the snowfall. Hope everyone is staying safe.
Iโve been with Snake for little over a year now. First time playing through the entire series from start to finish.
1. MGS3: Snake Eater
2. MGS1
3. MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
4. MGS5: Phantom Pain
5. MGS2: Sons of Liberty
6. MGS: Peace Walker
7. Metal Gear 2
8. Metal Gear
So long, Boss. Peace โฎ๏ธโ๏ธ
So, Iโve caught The West Wing bug.
Aaron Sorkin, how do you do it?
And his message is clear: humanity is its own devil or savior. Become a killer or a healer to the world. The choice is yours.
I canโt help but imagine how much fun Garland mustโve had writing this one and what heโs building to is admirable and riveting. Heโs letting his characters exist in Bone Temple, indulging their worldviews.
I am more invested than I ever thought I could be butโฆhere we are. For better or worse, The Bone Temple boldly eats itself alive, concerned with wallowing in its own bellowing depravity while searching for a way out of that hopeless cycle.
Nia DaCosta doesnโt miss a beat behind the camera, choosing to take a breath with its cast and letting the characters reveal themselves one brutal scene after the other instead of simply mimicking director Danny Boyleโs kinetic fingerprints.
Less than a year later, its follow up โ The Bone Temple โ contextualizes the creative choices of its predecessor and manages to dig its heels into screenwriter Alex Garlandโs bizarre but hypnotizing new vision for this horror franchise.
I found the first two thirds to be severly enrapturing yet the storyโs conclusion and final scene had my head spinning.
Last June, I went into 28 Years Later wholly ignorant that it would be the first of a trilogy. How that news slipped past me, who knows, but it was the film I couldnโt stop thinking about the most in 2025 because I left the theater a little more than conflicted.
Chloe Zhaoโs HAMNET is an astounding portrait of love overcome with loss and the communicative, cathartic power of oneโs art. The film plays out like an orchestral piece steadily boiling over into a sweeping crescendo that holds the viewer firm within its magical grasp. Bravo.
2025 was my best year in comics.
How was it for you?
Happy New Year!
Launching my first official webstore was my last remaining comics-themed resolution I had for 2025 and I held to it just in the nick of time.
Take a look and, if you want, maybe be my first customer?
