Alright folks, it's a new week. We only get so many to chew over. The mist will clear, & somewhere out there, beyond the fog, a fresh spring is waiting to come through.
the same at Selsey, the Bill is fogbound although a plucky Sand Martin is at the windmill!
Just got round to looking through some photos from a gloomy walk last Friday morning. What I assumed to have been a passing Egyptian Goose turns out to have been a Ruddy Shelduck! West Beach, Selsey. @selseybirder.bsky.social #birds #ukbirds
To Selsey Bill, & the easternmost edge of the Solent today ๐

8 Brent Geese are in a grassy field. They are dark Geese with white undertails. The background is a hedge and trees.
Three Grey Partridges in a grassy field. They are round grey birds with orange faces. The left one is partially hidden by dead vegetation.
A shrub with lots of yellow flowers is in the foreground. The background is an estuary. The sky is blue with white fluffy clouds.
My last Chichester Harbour Low Tide Count of the winter this afternoon. Battered a bit by the wind but quite mild in the sun. Not many Brent Geese or waders about but nice to see both Great Northern & Black-throated Divers, Slav Grebe, and 5 Grey Partridges. Gorse really starting to pop.
First on the Peninsula this year: "2 Sand Martins over New Lake per Colin Jupp."
Good test for the Swarovski AT Balance in foul weather on Isle of Man today. Hard not to be impressed with the IS when phonescoping this Wigeon flock on 4x Optical iPhone zoom/18x scope zoom. Scope/phonescope setup handheld on half-down window of van. IS off, then on, then off in clip. #BirdingGear
