And sure enough heβs won both. Seek this movie out when it opens in the US in April. Robert deserves an invitation to the Oscars next year.

A note to my fellow awards watchers ahead of the BAFTAs this weekend: Keep an eye on Robert Aramayo from the beautiful drama I Swear. His performance as a man with Touretteβs is spectacular. Heβs up for Best Actor and Rising Star and has a shot to win one or both. Heβll be Oscar eligible next year.
I interviewed Robert Duvall once (with his wife Luciana Pedraza for their lovely film Assassination Tango) and was pleasantly surprised to see that the intimidating guy I knew from The Godfather and Apocalypse Now was actually quite friendly. For me nothing tops his performance in The Apostle.
Itβs a very special night on TCM tonight as Iβm cohosting with my brilliant friend Bob Mackie. Join us at 8ET/5PT as we premiere his wildly entertaining new documentary Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, followed by Pennies From Heaven, for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design.
I apologize! Clearly Iβm not an expert on that sitcom. I even asked our crew if I had said it wrong. Egg on all our faces.
Weβre back! The wonderful Carol Burnett and I had so much fun last year on TCM cohosting films that she spoofed on The Carol Burnett Show that we decided to do it again. Join us on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 beginning at 8ET/5PT for a lineup of musicals and their corresponding sketches.
Spent a fun and fascinating hour on stage with this guy last night for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation discussing his entire career up to his magnificent performance in Jay Kelly. Our conversation will be on Foundationβs YouTube page soon. π·: Araya Doheny for Getty Entertainment
Diane Laddβs passing today saddens me but also makes me so glad our TCM film festival and cruise exist. Diane joined us on the cruise in 2019 and it was so special to hear her stories and feel her passion firsthand. Sending love to her family and friends.
What a pleasure to interview the ridiculously impressive cast of Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach, at a special screening of the film. Itβs in theaters next month (and on Netflix in December) and itβll remind you of everything from Preston Sturges to Cinema Paradiso. Just gorgeous.
Already did at the premiere! Just great.
Today is the day this guyβs new movie comes out. Paul Thomas Anderson is an 11-time Academy Award nominee who will be a 14-time nominee come January. And thanks to the spectacular One Battle After Another, he should finally be an Oscar winner by March.
Catching up with one of this yearβs Silver Medallion tribute recipients (and great friend to us at TCM), Ethan Hawke. Heβs here in Telluride with the Richard Linklater drama Blue Moon, where he plays songwriter Lorenz Hart, and his fascinating Merle Haggard documentary, Highway 99: A Double Album.
Itβs always a treat when I overlap in the TCM studio with Alicia.
Itβs Christopher Plummer day on @tcmtv.bsky.social! Iβll have an afternoon of his films (starting with Inside Daisy Clover) before @benmank77.bsky.social introduces our premiere of The Sound of Music. Hereβs my life-highlight moment when I met him right after he won his Oscar for Beginners in 2012.
But you would have to talk to people!
Yes, itβs a TCM premiere.
Iβm sad to hear about Lalo Schifrin. I interviewed him for EW in 1996 and asked about his iconic Mission: Impossible theme in 5/4 time. He said, βI always say that things are in 2/4 or 4/4 because people dance with two legs. I did it for people from outer space with five legs.β
Thanks to the New York Times for including me in their fascinating β100 Best Movies of the Centuryβ poll. Hereβs my personal Top 10. How many have you seen?
TCM Classic Film Festival opening night with Jacqueline Stewart! The guys behind us look familiar tooβ¦
For a major Michael Clayton fan like myself this is very cool. Filmmaker Tony Gilroy (now the showrunner of Andor) joins me on @tcmtv.bsky.social tonight to introduce three of his favorite films: Klute (1971), This Land Is Mine (1943), and Dead End (1937). Hope to see you starting at 8ET/5PT.
Itβs a fun night on @tcmtv.bsky.social tonight as we celebrate the acting career of future Oscar-winning director Ron Howard. Iβll have American Graffiti & The Courtship of Eddieβs Father of course, but the lineup also includes the TCM premiere of The Spikes Gang from 1974 with Lee Marvin.
Duke basketball game and a new White Lotus episode on the same day? Time to break out the Timothy Ratliff t-shirt. Letβs go devils!
Please allow me one last shot from this weekend because sharing the stage for an hour with the most Oscar-nominated living director was quite special. When I met Martin Scorsese he said βI feel like I already know youβ which pretty much made my year. Heβs a wonderful friend to @tcmtv.bsky.social.
Shout-out to the guy in the middle who stepped in on short notice to make our TCM Pop-Up Film Festival x 92NY such a wonderful experience for our fans. I know Iβll never forget chatting with him and the equally fantastic Drew Barrymore about E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
NYC bound π₯Ά for the Oscar nominations! Iβll be on the Today show tomorrow morning at 8:45am and again at 9:00am. Iβm rooting for Anora, Emilia, and TimothΓ©eβ¦how about you?
If you need a break this evening, Iβll be honoring the true Renaissance man Kris Kristofferson on @TCM with a lineup of some of his terrific performances: Alice Doesnβt Live Here Anymore, A Star Is Born, and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Join me tonight starting at 8ET/5PT.
How fun to welcome the formidable Nicole Kidman & her brilliant Babygirl director Halina Reijn to Palm Springs. The audience loved hearing from this impressive duo. Now go win that Best Actress Golden Globe tonight! (Image courtesy of the Palm Springs International Film Festival)
