Every now and then a Gundam character escapes containment and a Sunrise hit squad is dispatched to neutralize them before the war crimes start.

Then I'm going to pick "John Moderate" rather than abstaining my vote altogether because at least we have a fighting chance to *pressure* "John Moderate" compared to the "objectively evil one" that's already pulling the trigger on us.
In an ideal world (and the one I want to live in), we would lobby and primary a politician that would unequivocally support us rather than someone willing to be a "moderate" (i.e Gavin Newsom).
However, if I'm caught in a situation where I'm stuck with "John Moderate" vs "John HatesTranspeople"-
If you want to martyr yourself by sticking with your beliefs that lead to oblivion, then go for it. Just don't expect to be saved when the trains start running.
