A basic statement of fact no one in the government of Canada is principled or brave enough to make.

This is no different from Putin saying MH17 was shot down by Ukraine or Assad saying rebels gassed themselves.

Advocates push back on Danielle Smith's comment that people are moving to Alberta for social programs | CBC News The premier said her government wants to ensure programs like Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped, or AISH, aren't "overly generous," and that she's heard people have moved to Alberta just to ...

โ€œIf we're going to be making social policy that affects tens of thousands of Albertans, it should be based on evidence, and it should be evidence that's available to all of us.โ€

Logical. Reasonable. So not how we do things in Alberta.

The kind of principled leadership the province needs.

It's wild that we're likely going to vote later this year on Alberta separating from Canada and we don't have a firm answer from the leader of the province on her position. I know there is a lot going on in the province right now, but this seems pretty fucking important.

53% of Albertans think Premier Smith would vote for Alberta independence.

She's tried to play both sides with the stupid โ€œsovereign Alberta in a united Canadaโ€ line, and people aren't buying it.

If she isn't pro-separatist, it's well past time for her to say so.

Family seeking $1.3M owed by Alberta separatist leader Dennis Modry after court order | CBC News Relatives of a prominent Alberta separatist who met with U.S. officials are upset that he has failed to pay back more than $1.3 million that he owes from a court order issued almost a year ago. A B.C....

Absolutely shocked that the Premier would associate with a grifter like this. Completely out of character for someone known for such consistently sound judgment.

Danielle Smith from 2022 would agree with @jeromyyyc.bsky.social that Calgary isn't getting a fair deal.

"If we're going to rail against equalization at the federal level, then we can't keep doing the same thing to our municipalities..."

She was saying many things back then to get elected.

Celebrating Alberta newcomers

March 04, 2026 Media inquiries
Nominations are open for the 2026 Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards, recognizing newcomersโ€™ contributions to making the province a better place to call home.

Alberta is home to people from cultures and backgrounds that span the world, many of whom have made significant contributions to their communities through excellence in their profession or field. Through charitable work, entrepreneurship, innovation, artistic expression and more, Alberta is strengthened by the immigrants who have chosen to make the province their home. The Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards were created to recognize the achievements and excellence of foreign-born Albertans, regardless of the time they have spent in the province.

Albertans are encouraged to nominate immigrant youth, entrepreneurs, academics, artists, athletes, professionals and community builders for an Alberta Immigrant Impact Award in recognition of their accomplishments.

โ€œThe contributions of immigrants have a vital impact on Albertaโ€™s success and keeping it a welcome place for all. Whether through supporting businesses, driving innovation or volunteering in their communities, it is important to recognize and celebrate the positive impact newcomers have on our province.โ€

Muhammad Yaseen, Associate Minister of Multiculturalism
Nominations are evaluated on criteria such as the nomineeโ€™s overall contribution, how their actions fulfilled a need and affected others and how they demonstrated leadership and originality when problem-solving. Nominations are open from March 3 until noon on May 12, and an event will be held in fall 2026 to recognize the recipients of the Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards.

Almost a 60% increase in just three years, with more increases to come.

Premier Smith and the UCP government clearly have no problem raising taxes, as long as they can make it look like someone else is responsible.

Thank God we have โ€œfiscally responsibleโ€ conservatives running the province.

For most of the history of cars, turning right on red was illegal due to its obvious danger, since drivers looking to their left for oncoming vehicles can't see pedestrians in the crosswalk on their right. It should be again.

Have Albertaโ€™s finances gone off the rails?

"The deficit is not simply the product of bad luck or global events. It reflects choices: to increase spending beyond population and inflation, to loosen or abandon fiscal constraints, and to deepen reliance on volatile resource revenues."

And also Justin Trudeau. Right?

Bruce Arthur: The U.S. menโ€™s hockey teamโ€™s triumphant return to the NHL is an exercise in damage control Some players complained that partying with the FBI director and attending the Trumpโ€™s State of the Union was being politicized. Others apologized.

Some US menโ€™s players apologized; even more talked about how much they respected the USA womenโ€™s team. What they didnโ€™t seem to realize was that if you respect them and donโ€™t apologize for the Trump debacle, it actually makes embracing Trump worse. www.thestar.com/sports/nhl/t...

Peter MacKinnon: University of Alberta should be applauded for resisting affirmative action Affirmative action โ€” by whatever name it is known โ€” is discriminatory

Peter MacKinnon with an absolutely inane piece about EDI hiring opens by noting that 'affirmative action' is discriminatory and against section 15(1) of the Charter. He fails to note section 15(2) of the Charter, which EXPLICITLY PROTECTS AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICIES. nationalpost.com/opinion/pete...
