By coincidence I just saw an article in the Sept 11, 2025 issue of Nature that shows both Covid and flu infections can awaken dormant breast cancer cells in mice. This is dependent on IL-6 and CD4 T cells, as IL-6 KO mice don’t show this effect, and depletion of CD4 T cells decreased the effect.
But then why would the effect be specific to HPV-caused cancers? Wouldn’t we see an increase in all cancers?
