Imo the movie is not AWFUL as a movie, it's just like... not a very good Ghibli movie and not a very good Earthsea movie. But the vibes are good! If it was like "this is a movie with Earthsea vibes", I wouldn't entirely disagree. And I think that viewpoint will keep it from being unbearable lol

The panoramic prerenders were what I was most proud of figuring out how to do. AFAIK no game has done anything like it. Closest I can think of is one of the Myst games (the third, I think?)
IIRC I not only pre-rendered the background, but rendered the light probes in blender so the realtime models would have lighting to match the scene
