Everytime there is a routine to Dirty Diana during a competition my wife gets noticeably annoyed. This happens a bare minimum of 3 times a competition.
I thought she was amazing. She wasn’t happy. She was fighting a migraine, felt shaky and fell out of her penchè. I still feel like she could place at least top 10 out of like 70. Awards are at 10:30. Now food.
My daughter does this year’s competition solo for the first time in about 10 minutes or so at True Damce Challenge. She won overall soloist at this competition 3 years ago. I think my wife is more nervous than she is.
At the Dance Competition. Was sitting in the lobby reading and I looked up and the girl who was running through her solo’s butt was like right in my face. So I decide to move and walk past a sign which said “Butz Lobby.” I guess there is truth in advertising.
This weekend is the girls first dance competion of the year. As always my job will be to drive us there with a decent playlist, provide snacks, purchase program and pen/highlighter, find an aisle seat and most importantly, making snarky comments about inappropriate song choices for mini dances.

I really enjoyed the boom Project Hail Mary, especially the audiobook version with @realrayporter.bsky.social’s narration but I am kinda meh about the upcoming movie version. Not exactly sure why.

Honestly, I tire of all the cutesy names people come up for Trump. Everyone thinks their’s is the most clever and it really isn’t. Turns him into a cartoon character as opposed to the fascist demagogue he actually is. But then I’m grumpy.
For me, I love Trade Paperback. Can’t read the mass market books anymore due to my vision issues, so it’s either trade or ebooks.
Have to say, I enjoyed Dreamcatcher more this time than the first although I’d still put it low on my list of King’s books.
Almost done Dreamcatcher. Up after that I’m going to listen to either One Yellow Eye by @leighradford.bsky.social or Spread Me by @sarahgailey.bsky.social before heading to my next Stephen King “books I either dnf’d or didn’t love”, which will be either Duma Key or Revival.
Finally saw them last summer in Asbury Park. Absolutely an amazing experience.
Music has been a lifesaver for me as well. I finally got to see the band that got me through the worst of the pandemic last night (along with the souls).
My first show on South Street was King’s X in 1994, during their Dogman tour, the day after their performance at Woodstock. That was a great show.
I haven’t been to a show in South Street since seeing Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven in 2018 at the TLA. I used to love South Street but it got very corporate in the late 90s early aughts. I have to say after the show last night it’s got some of its swag back.

Last night, Ike Reilly on South Street in Philly. Amazing show.
Almost every time I go to a small venue show I arrive early and find a good spot up close with good sight lines. Then some tall ass motherfucker shows up right before the show starts, pushes his way up front and stands right in front of me.
Just drove down to South Street in Philly for an Ike Reilly show while listening to a Stephen King audiobook. Ka is a wheel and that wheel is on a Nova driven by a Commie.

We were at the Dungeon in New Orleans on our honeymoon and the bartender kept stopping by and telling me about her private show and she would get me a ticket if I was interested and my wife thought it was hilarious that I had no clue she was flirting with me. I still don’t think she was.
Man, junior high school me skipping school would have been so pissed.
He was running against Dr. Oz. Man, I honestly dislike many Democrats but Oz was a no go. Fetterman did a good charade as a progressive who would stand up to Trump. I never expected him to be a bootlicker.
Back then there was no Bluesky and it was a constant barrage of “Fetterman wears shorts! He’s not fit to be a Senator!” from the same people calling him the only sane Democrat. I did hear about the shotgun incident, which worried me but then the “victim” came out and supported him.
I voted for Fetterman. Probably the biggest mistake vote of my voting history. Recently I saw a post basically chastising those of us who voted for us with, “You should have listened to us! We told you he was problematic!”

I used to go to concerts, movies and Phillies games by myself all the time. Tonight I am going to a show for the first time by myself since getting married 4 years ago. It seems weird now, like I’m doing something wrong.
