25+ years derelict. In Dublin City Council ownership since 2019. No funding from the Department of Housing to rebuild.

The two derelict houses on 19 & 21 Connaught Street have been abandoned by the state. They're now structurally compromised and a risk to the neighbouring houses on the terrace.

France’s former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin has called for sanctions against Israel and the US over their attacks on Iran:

β€œWe say clearly to the United States that their war against Iran is illegal, illegitimate, and dangerous.”

Because of racism and the class system BrΓ©ifne wasn't allowed compete at Crufts. A spectre is haunting the fancy pedigree dogs of Europe: the spectre of all the barky little brown jobs.

Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinian women and girls in its genocidal war on Gaza.

On International Women's Day, we look at the number of women and girls Israel killed in Gaza in 2025.

Almost all the cultural spaces and restaurants I've been in recently have switched to gender neutral toilets. It's indicative of how Labour's rabid hatred of trans people feels bizarre to so much of civil society which is asking itself, 'what drugs is Labour on, and how do we ban those?'

Yeah! All day long I delete the accounts of desperate Gazans who are just trying to survive in horrific circumstances! I really love it!

It was invented by Robert Heinlein in "Stranger in a Strange Land" but it's pointless, it just means "to understand", there's no particular nuance to it.

The story behind the BBC refusing to air a documentary about Israeli attacks on Gaza hospitals Two veteran journalists produced a documentary that showed evidence of war crimes in Gaza. But the BBC refused to air the film. Why?

Two veteran journalists made a documentary about Israeli attacks on Gaza hospitals, but the BBC later refused to air it.

This week on Reveal, we team up with @kcrw.com to investigate why and what it says about the future of journalism:

Jeffrey Sachs spoke to an audience in Dublin today.

As the Govnt fails repeatedly to call out the brutal, illegal wars of the US+Israel, he reminded us of JFK's speech to the DΓ‘il in 1963.

'From Cork to Congo, Galway to the Gaza strip', Ireland must be the voice of the weak.

In addition to being the unelected and unaccountable "chief executive" in whom all actual local government power rests he also voices his "legal concerns" about motions passed by the elected councillors which have nothing the fuck to do with him

morals of others were inferior to those of Christians, and that they therefore had every right, and could use any means, to change them, the collision, between cultures-and the schizophrenia in the mind of Christendom-had rendered the domain of morals as chartless as the sea once was, and as treacherous as the sea still is. It is not too much to say that whoever wishes to become a truly moral human being (and let us not ask whether or not this is pos-sible; I think we must believe that it is possible). must first divorce himself from all the prohibitions, crimes, and hypocrisies of the Christian church. If the concept of God has any validity or any use, it can only be to make us larger, freer, and more loving. If God cannot do this, then it is time we got rid of Him.

they lie every single time

it’s always murder, they’re always smearing the victim in order to cover for themselves

DHS statements should be treated, presumptively, as the exact opposite of the truth

not exaggerations, not inaccurate - brazen, total lies

"Robin of Sherwood" was the high water mark.

Robin Hood is a game of the Minister's Cat -- every new feature has to be retained. So Naseem the Saracen became Morgan Freeman as Azeem in the Costner version, and now it's just a plain fact there was a Merrie Man from the other end of the Crusades.

Taoiseach Michel Martin
statement on Lebanon
I strongly condemn the reckless strike on a UNIFIL base in southern Lebanon that has left a number of Ghanaian peacekeepers seriously injured.
The role of peacekeepers is sacrosanct, and all should go above and beyond to prevent them from coming into harm's way.
I would like to pay tribute to the courage, resilience, and professionalism of the Irish peacekeepers who came to the aid of their Ghanaian colleagues today.
I have been briefed on the latest situation, and all Irish personnel serving in Lebanon remain safe and accounted for.

Who I wonder launched this β€˜reckless strike’ against UNIFIL peacekeepers, because this statement would seem to indicate it came from an unknown source or is a known β€˜unknown’, eh!! Someone should really inform the Taoiseach! #nameandshame #weallknowwhodidit

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

It's mad that many ideas and concepts in linguistics -- "poverty of the stimulus" and "language faculty" or "universal grammar" -- are fundamentally based on an argument from incredulity, that this shouldn't or can't be possible, and yet, we're doing it.
