Here I am talking about #Supervision (you’d never guess) at last year’s event. @talkingheadsoak.bsky.social Enjoyed and will be back (although not on a stall) still willing to talk all things supervision and the difference it makes in schools #EduSky

Seem to have had a lot of conversations this week about how children are not ready to learn until they are safe; it’s daunting for school leaders with reduced resources and capacity to be finding space while children can be helped to feel safer.

Was definitely reminding a head of this yesterday and how contagious cheerfulness can be. Noticing the positives and bringing sunshine into school. That is a big bar of chocolate!

The image presents a report indicating significant media bias against Muslims in the UK, highlighting negative portrayals and specific outlets.
We have a real problem in this country with how the press portrays and writes about Muslims.
This story is just another example of that.
It will be no surprise if you follow my work that the Telegraph and Daily Mail are two of the worst offenders🙄

Daily Mail Headline:
Pupils' drawings could be blasphemous under Islamic law, Labour councils tell schools - while music and dance classes may go against the teachings of Islam
Oh boy! What a headline...
Ask yourself:
"What am I being asked to believe?"
"Who am I being told to blame?"
Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.
Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧵

The Johnson effect? Remember reading some research about how when the same speech is read in different voices/accents etc it affects how it is heard. Someone reading for example a Johnson speech in a female diffident voice would not have same impact.

Have remembered the thinker- Sen. He has written extensively (more than I have read) about this in human services.

Agree, thinking about capacity and capability is so useful. We are most capable when we have the capacity to use our abilities. Some of the capacity is physical, space resources etc but much of it is emotional/energy/thinking as well as peers.

Compare this thread to the Chilcot Checklist, produced after the invasion of Iraq to avoid another stupid war.

According to the New Yorker, Donald Trump and his family profited off the presidency by an estimated $4 billion in 2025 — mostly through shady crypto deals.
That amounts to $456,621 per hour.
But how are you doing?

Isabel Oakeshott: anti-migration commentator, economic migrant to Dubai, possible future evacuee of the very British state she insists is broken.
Isn’t it funny how mobility becomes acceptable when it’s your own?

This is not the place to tell me that Americans aren't doing anything about this because we're docile cowards.
Americans are doing a lot about this and you just don't know because our media isn't talking about it.

I really think that society as a collective thinks people with learning disability and those who love them should lower expectations and accept they will have a worse life than others.
They are the most marginalised group in society by far.

There's a bunch of Chevening Scholars in my Masters classes and they massively enrich it. Impressive people and also so obviously wedded to going back and improving their own countries.

And so we write to brilliant postgraduate students from Sudan, withdrawing the offers and scholarships they won in open competition with the best in the world. A sad day for the University of Oxford.
