Today I saw one of my former students while walking my dog. He coughed while he pet her, saying, "I'm not sick, I just have acid reflexes."

Happy birthday women
Really enjoying pokopia, heavily relating to the protagonist impersonating being human
I saw those same stickers on a kindergartener's water bottle yesterday.
Pokopia. It was a gift but it's been reviewed well so I am looking forward to it.
Me wearing cheaters to read a nintendo video game insert
I am "put on my cheaters to read my new video game insert" years old.
But yeah, shifting the details made it rightly ping as false to my own younger siblings.
Even these days, I wonder which details I remember are solidly fact, and which are more interpretations.
Anyway I just realized it would have been about 29 years ago this spring, golly.
(My mom's version ages me up because you used to be able to leave your 11 yos to babysit their younger siblings without as much judgment. And then as time went on it became less acceptable. I think my mom started fudging the details so as not to have to defend her own role in the story.)
When I was eleven, I helped a woman escape her abductor.
(My mom would tell the story and my younger siblings who hadn't been born at the time didn't believe it until they heard my version.)
I'm using one on Bsky and the other on Facebook (my two main social media apps). I'll probably change between using them both when I make websites I use at school, and I think the seated one fits better on the postcards I send home to kids (though I like that I can always crop the standing one).

New profile pic by @arnnart.bsky.social. Additional pic that I'm going to be using on my school postcards by @nayomiarts.bsky.social .
(I gave each artist the same reference images and similar prompts, I like that they're different but both very much me.)
Dreamed last night that St. Joseph was in the PTO, which implies that the child Jesus would be a student at my school.
Is this a related conversation?

Don't worry sir, teachers still exist
A screenshot of Rachel Dratch from SNL. She's a white woman with short dark hair and blue eyes, and she's making an awkward expression that implies, "Sorry I have to tell you this and ruin your good time. But also I'm kind of not sorry about it." I've added a subtitle that reads, "That's AI."
an updated debbie downer sketch but it's friends showing her funny videos and she has to respond like this to every single one like this:
My beige pets who love to be on my lap do not appreciate being abruptly flung away with little warning. And I hate to do it to 'em, but.
In the "still can't trust a fart" stage of recovery from the school crud stomach bug.
Teaching is so joyful.

Students as product rather than learning as process.
427 miles according to Google maps. But I have siblings in queens and jersey city, maybe yall could carpool for a visit
You know the parachutes we played with in kindergarten as a class? If I bought one and took it to the park do you think I could use it to befriend other adults?
Me annotating my grad school readings
Well this is also horrible.
There are only "24 specific behaviors that we take to exemplify safe and effective human-AI collaboration," so, come on, K-12 teachers, get at it.
Anyway I love the days he works from home
My spouse suggested my memoir be titled, "I Always Leave Twice" because it sounds mysterious but it's actually because of how often I forget something when I leave and have to come back for it.
yes I think I have to write something about 'failing quietly' vs 'failing loudly'
when the electricity in your house goes out, that is failing loudly. you know at once.
when an AI fails, it mostly fails quietly. the bad incorrect answer gives no warning that it is different to the good useful one
Today a kindergartener saw me walking to work and asked me about it. I said I chose to walk. She said, "But it's COLD! Don't you have PARENTS?!"
What channel is the Bad Bunny SOTU on?
