Between 1992-2025, large areas of the grounding line of #Antarctic glaciers have retreated. The largest changes have occurred in W. Antarctica, where grounding lines have retreated 10-40+ km, driven by incursions of warm water masses along deep bathymetric troughs

(b) Long-term NPP trends (Gg C year−1) averaged across the Southern Ocean for the full time series (darker shade) and a jackknife resampling of the full time series (1998–2024) as a moving 20-year record with the mean trends ± the standard deviation reported (lighter shade).
If you’re interested in the productivity of the southern ocean using remote sensing, floats and models - both now and in the future then this is the paper for you! We’re gearing up for an associated field campaign in January!! 🌊
