time to become slartibartfast, prototyped some basic terrain editing tools with size/falloff

making it so I can edit the game.. inside the game, was a great choice

quite happy with terrain. each map tile consists of a 16x16 grid of chunks, each chunk is two grids of height integers, 129x129 for the corners and 128x128 for the center vertices, this forms a grid of 8x8 quads out of triangles

implemented map streaming into the engine, already pretty fun to fly around and watch things load in

terrain is loaded zero-copy from virtual memory (mmap), and memory is pre-allocated based on render distance, so zero allocations/free at runtime

absolutely! it was the single biggest increase in development speed

being able to turn anything directly to a slider or a toggle, graph or beyond, without having to design/think about it, from just a pointer, is such a breeze

yep! in the next update they're not longer squished and we've also added support for external animations as well (so all models should now have animations!)

in the latest version of wow.export you can preview animations for any model directly in the 3d preview

you can then export these as gltf straight into your software of choice!
