NEW ONLINE. A target trial emulation has looked at the use of prophylactic antibiotics in women with recurrent urinary tract infections. The findings showed a potentially higher risk of antibiotic resistance, but no increase in risk of hospital admission.

Venous thromboembolism in users of progestin-only hormonal contraception in Sweden: a prospective, register-based, nested, matched case–control study We found a dose-dependent increased risk of VTE among users of POC in Sweden, with markedly increased risk for high-dose POC, and slightly increased risk for intermediate-dose POC.

NEW ONLINE. An Article from Sweden looks at the association between venous thromboembolism and progestin-only hormonal contraception and finds a dose-dependent risk. However, some limitations are noted, eg, smoking and BMI were not accounted for.
