Nelle ultime due settimane sono stati trovati diversi corpi senza vita di persone migranti sulle spiagge occidentali di Calabria e Sicilia o al largo delle coste. Ne sono stati contati 14 finora, ma come sempre sarà molto difficile identificarli

I keep hearing stories about a time when being an academic meant something.
It wasn't just about the salary. It was about standing. The State offered stability, and society offered respect.
I never lived that reality.
I look around today, and I see a society that respects only one thing: money. Specifically, the loud, "muscular" flexing of it.
This culture clashes with us. We are significantly underpaid, yes. But we are also moderate. We value study over noise. We don't know how to show off.
So, the pact is broken.
But what worries me most is the reaction of my peers.
I don't see anger. I don't see us fighting to defend our rights.
I see resignation.
It seems we have decided that Italy isn't worth the effort to save. We aren't looking for a megaphone; we are looking for a plane ticket.
Here is the hard truth:
We will be fine. We are highly skilled. We can easily relocate and find recognition elsewhere.
The real loser is the nation. It is bleeding human capital that takes decades to build, and it won't get it back.

The social pact is broken. A view from a young researcher.
