4pm - POV of me starting my car. “On to the science centre!” “Pathetic sounds…” “nothing is happening. My battery is flat. 😢” “Ellie to the rescue!” Drawing of a woman holding jump leads. She says “I have an emergency box in my boot!” “Note to self - learn from Ellie!”

5pm - “made it to the science centre!” Drawing of the planetarium from the outside and of three figures walking up to it 6pm Van Gogh alive at the planetarium. A pretty basic drawing of starry night while a drawing of me watches it from a reliving chair. “It was okay, but The Van Gogh quotes made me emotional”

7pm “driving home”. Drawing of my car on the road. I’m saying “another puddle” I describe the puddle as “deceptively deep”. 8pm “tea on the sofa” drawing of me on the sofa with tea , blanket and cat. 9pm - “phone and bed” me in bed with my phone. “Ire bad but I just want to switch off” -I’m watching paranormal YouTube stuff and urban exploring videos.

7am - cat is yelling, I feed her, she goes into her Kirby hiding spot. 8am - I switch my bed for the sofa, plus a coffee. 9am - I have limited time. I must print and cut out stickers. Drawing of me saying “no” to sensible things - packing things in my bad, getting dressed Drawing of me saying “yes” to my cricut machine printing out stickers.

10am - Layout of my room where I’m looking for socks, sketchbook, phone, etc. I’m supposed to be in the room looking, but it just looks like the room is asking questions 😂 11am - I’m driving a car, listening to the band “Alvvays”. I’m closing my eyes - disclaimer is that I don’t actually close my eyes when I drive 😅 I’m early so I sit in my car and catch up on hourlies.

12pm - lunch @ bento! Drawing of me and friends eating lunch. 1pm -“mark jones mapping the familiar exhibition” - drawing of my friend looking at the art pieces on the wall.

2pm “sketchin’ at the library” - drawing of a mrs crimble macaroon packet, mug, sketchbook and pen. I’m looking at my phone and saying “doh” as I just lost a chess game. 3pm - walk + back to car - dog spotting! 2 dogs we saw on our walk 😊

My sketchbook isn’t prefect. It’s where I put pen to paper (no pencil!) and see what comes out. always a surprise! Anyway here’s my first 4 hourly sketchbook spreads from the 8th February - we went to a nearby town to celebrate my friend’s birthday 😊 #hourlycomicday

A comic in black/white/blue. Lucy rolls her bike through an alley, by a crew building a fence. Narration: My neighbors hired a crew to rebuild their fence. Crew member: "Do you need us to move our stuff out of the way?" Lucy: "Oh! No, you're all good, thanks!" Lucy: "Have a good one!" Crew member: "You, too!"

Narration: I was teaching when my phone started lighting up with alerts from the rapid response network and neighbor chat. Lucy's back is to us as she shows a group of enthusiastic children something on a notebook. Behind her, her phone in her bag is buzzing. Narration: By the time the lesson was over, they were already gone. Lucy is reading messages on her phone. Messages: Alert: black SUV Sighting: be on alert for... Confirmed abductionL alley between ----- and ----. SUV plates... We tried to get them inside, but it was too... ...Contacting an I.R. lawyer. Heading to Broadview later today.

Lucy is riding her bike home. Narration: On the ride home, I kept thinking "If I'd been there, could I have warned them? Would my ICIRR* training have helped?" *Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. Get trained and know your rights at ICIRR.org. Narration: I'd taken the training after Halloween, when the violent ICE raids had locked down our schools and driven our neighbors indoors. (Image of a halloween bucket in the shape of a jack-o-lantern) Narration: Halloween is fun here-- The community filling the streets and opening our doors to one another. But this year's was tense, frightened and subdued. Haunted.

Lucy is standing in the alley, staring at the newly built fence. Narration: When I got home, it was all done. The other two guys who had gotten inside in time stayed and finished the build. The new fence is superimposed with the brief exchange from earlier in the comic ("Have a good one" You, too") Narration: I see it every day and think about how those guys built this in the spot where strangers in masks took their friend. Narration: How many other places in our communities are similarly haunted? (Drawings of sidewalks, buildings, streets and windows)
