As daughter no. 2 gets set for her finals, then heading off to Bath Uni in September, I’ve just started querying my newly polished manuscript The Empty Nest Club. It’s such a bittersweet time, but the characters have made me smile. It’s going to be okay ❤️🩹Wish me luck in the query trenches 🤞🏼📚
Noticing my post from 9 months ago. A bit of a false start here! My daughter’s since moved to Leeds Uni and I’m channelling all the feelings to edit my empty nest book. Pride and happiness outweighs pining and loss far more than I’d imagined!

Took my eldest daughter to look around Nottingham uni today, and now having such mixed feelings. It’s perfect, and so exciting - I can absolutely see her going there in September and having a ball. But it all seems even more real now, and I’m going to miss her so much.
Arrived to stay at my mum’s, last night. She’d left a bar of cream egg chocolate for me on the pillow, and when I got into bed, she’d put a hot water bottle under the blanket. Feeling very lucky, very spoilt, and very happy to be home.
Sitting in Starbucks writing school reports. Summarising complex journeys into a few insightful, engaging sentences - it’s not so different to writing pitches for books.
