sometimes a really specific brand of crazy hits you (a guy you like a lot stars in a musical you have wanted to see for years) and you find yourself feverishly googling round trip flights to seoul
Abolish the legal gender marker entirely. No government can be trusted to have a database of which people have changed theirs, no government has any business tracking what your gender is "supposed" to be in the first place.
ahhHHH i need!!
!!! congrats!!!
Going to re-up our call to nominate On Spec for Best Semiprozine at the Hugos
With Canadian identity under attack by USA-based alt-right political forces, it's an important moment to celebrate things that are weirdly Canadian
This is also their last year of eligibility. Throw them a vote, please.
oh man this is such a mood... tfw i simultaneously want to have the time to practice writing to see what works but also feeling the gap between what i can do and what i could do with more dedicated study...

Author of THE MARIGOLD and coauthor of THE HANDYMAN METHOD Andrew F. Sullivan's EARTH FILLED WITH BLOOD, pitched as Nosferatu meets Succession and drawing on Irish folklore, about territorial, supernatural beings desperate to thrive in the modern world and the ramshackle attempt to halt their domination, to Ed Schlesinger at Gallery, by Ron Eckel at CookeMcDermid (world English)

A birth announcement for a book! Including the book cover, the size of the book (14 by 12) and weight of book (567 grams). There are faint, blue starts surrounding the book which is displayed against a light blue, watercolour background.
A.D. Sui (caucasian person with short, brown hair) is wearing a grey top coat and jeans, pointing to The Iron Garden Sutra on a bookstore bookshelf and smiling.
and we're live, folks!
THE IRON GARDEN SUTRA is now out everywhere books are sold! if you pre-ordered a copy, you should be receiving it soon (or already have) and if not, it's not too late to purchase the yellowest book in all of history!
gorgeous gorgeous cover :')) if you're a fan of august clarke this should be on your radar already and if you're not then you really should be!!
toxic femme lesbian light yagami is exactly the same but Worse. she's constructing elaborate murder plans to prove she's a cishet man but l insists that kira is a woman. she's got an inferiority/superiority complex about the patriarchy. she hates that she's obsessed with l's hands.
for hopeful new year vibes you might like my novella ft. family dumpling scene (you might like the other one if your energy moving into this new year is closer to unhinged)
it's reposting this cover of the villain song from the death note musical & think about toxic femme lesbian light yagami o'clock www.youtube.com/watch?v=g66o...

Everyone else is doing their awards nomination posts, so I guess I should do mine before I forget what I even wrote this year... ๐
Poetry has been a big deal for me, so considering any of my @seattlein2025.org poems for a Rhysling, or Con-Verse for a Best Related Work Hugo, would rock my world!
who wants to talk about this movie with me
From Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Vol. 3: The Captive Castaways Mickey, covered in chains, looks down at a tube that rolled over to him, Opium written on the side. Mickey: Good gosh! Opium!
this sounds fantastic, clicking in post haste
sometimes you get back to home/work from vacation and that is sad but then your little cats curls up on top of you and it is less sad
have been in an amateur film bro phase lately which mostly means actually going to local indie theatres and watching reruns of old hk movies and i am genuinely having a blast & filling the creative well in ways previously untapped
as it should since sandy brown is the clearly superior colour!!
A starry sky graphic with flames at the bottom, and text reading: Freya Marske 2025 Award Eligibility: Best Novella Cinder House Tordotcom/Tor UK
A nice simple List of One this year! My first ever novella eligibility, which I'm excited about.
My #SFF curations get more traction, but I'm primarily a nonfiction author. During #nonfictionnovember, I'm spotlighting this output. Starting with #books. This sociocultural guide to deities was a crazy endeavour of telling the stories of 60, I'm delighted with its wide and lasting impact. 1/
I think the corollary that a lot of people miss about "write what you know" is that *you have the power to know more things.* Research and talking to people are a central part of writing!
i dont really have formed thoughts but i think primarily what im thinking about how is all sex scenes have to make choices on multiple levels, and i think it's actually fine to have culturally gendered descriptors, but also it can tip over into biological determinism if not handled carefully
every time i think about sex writing, i think about this excerpt from a book i read once that talked about how broadly speaking, vaginas get hard and penises get wet, and the emphasis of what is like physically happening in each circumstance is incredibly gendered (sorry i forget which book now)
