Itβs such shocking sad news we have lost Alan. He was such fun and inspiring on the CoB board where we met every 3 month for many years. So many great memories of Alan that I will always cherish.

Very sad to hear of the death of Robin Weiss FRS - a great virologist, research leader and mentor in whose lab I learned molecular biology. A wonderfully kind and morally attuned man.

β¨ One year on, we honor Spencer Shorte.
On Jan 28, 2026, Institut Pasteur paid tribute to a visionary scientist and human leader.
His legacy lives on through the PPUβResearch & Technology track, uniting research & innovation as he envisioned.
Inspiring future generations.

Tom was atotally inspiring and so passionate when he gave lectures in my first year in King's college Biophysics Dept London many moons ago.
Iβm embarrassed to find how little I knew, or thought, about Agarose. Despite its efficacy, ubiquity & essential nature in labs.
Nor did I know anything about Fanny Angelina (another example, whether intentional or not, of the Matilda Effect) & Walther Hesse.
This is absolutely fascinating.
I have multiple positions available to join my lab from this summer: #postdoc, #student and #technician. Adverts to follow but see www.saurinlab.com for further details. #senescence, #mitosis, #cellcycle, #phosphorylation are the key areas. Email me if interested.
Closing date is 19th Feb so why not go for it to enjoy the rain in London!

Only a few spots left for this amazing meeting! Just sign up and join us to discuss all #cellbio #imaging things!
Guess I'll never become an immunologist then!
2nd postdoc job alert in the Crick Institute in London. Project will examine the role of motors & the cytoskeleton (actin, septins and microtubules) during vaccinia virus egress using biochemical, structural & cellular approaches + live cell imaging. spread the word.
