Two women at a standing table work on laying out a sewing pattern on a large piece of Kraft paper. They’re showing their work to their tailoring instructor, a man with round glasses and long blonde hair tied back in a braid.

The same two women at their worktable tucked away into a corner of a fabric warehouse, huge bolts of wool piled high behind them. The redhaired woman is perched on a stool sitting cross-legged “tailor style” while she sews, and her friend is on a folding chair across from her.

My friend Betsy & I took a historical sewing workshop this weekend focused on 18th century tailored pockets, cuffs, and collars

I thought we’d just be making samplers on a big rectangle or something but instead we made these wee little jackets and I can’t handle how CUTE they came out

Yeah even the hidden boning channels and lacing placket eyelets. Even the long interior seams that are completely encased. 🙄🙄🙄

Finally ready to start putting trim on this jacket after I give it a pressing, construction is all done

100% hand-stitched for absolutely no reason other than the love of the game 😐😐

Everything Hagcraft makes is the softest thing I’ve ever touched in my life. Like wearing a cloud. Except a cloud that also looks cool as hell on you.

Sup chat this is Slouching Towards Bethlehem with your boy The Rough Beast, and it looks like today’s stream could be a big one, as some of you might’ve already seen there are rumors going around social media that the hour has come round at last, so we’re gonna get right into it

Maybe on the 5th time I throw my hands into the air and yell “OKAY!” that is when I will summon the strength to do the tasks that need to be done today.

The longer I’ve been sewing the more I find myself handstitching just for the challenge and because it’s *actually* calming, unlike the fear-based relationship I have with my machine (don’t tell her I said that 😳)…

BUT: be brave!! I moved mine into the dining room instead of tucked away, 11/10!

Me, sewing an 18th century jacket: haha hell yeah so glad we invented the sewing machine so I can whip this project up real fast. suck it 1750s tailors

10 min later: but what if… I sew it all by hand anyway

I saw Ho99o9 open for Neurosis years and years ago, had never heard of them and was IMMEDIATELY obsessed. They’re so rad.

Ernest Shackleton was a madman and should have been given the highest national honours possible and then locked in a room and never let out again for his own protection

I feel like my sensory sensitivities (say that 3x fast…) have gotten more severe as I’ve gotten older, but maybe it’s just that I’m more aware of WHAT overstimulation is and which sensory inputs are causing my reactions 🤷🏼‍♀️

I live directly in between an Air Force base, the world’s largest Navy base, an Army base and a CIA facility… I’m sure we got Marines around here somewhere too…

& lemme tell ya, idk how anybody autistic survives the greater Hampton Roads area without really good noise-cancelling headphones

Well I was hoping to do things today but they’ve started flying the military’s loudest jets around my house in circles for fun so now I’m having an Overstimulation Shutdown instead
