Long live 2D animation (& practical effects).
Forgot to post this on Twin Peaks Day. 😅
I don’t want all of this to be our reality. We all deserve better. Future generations deserve better. We can’t let this shit thrive anymore. (3)
I see it everywhere, from true American history (not taught in our schools), old media, current media, our culture, conditioning-it goes on and on and on. Nothing feels the same anymore. (2)
What disturbs me the most with all the information that’s been coming out lately, is when you finally open your eyes, you realize that it’s been there for a long time. Literal decades. Even in my childhood. And we were conditioned to believe it was normal. (1)
Everything was handled with so much care and passion. Truly a one to one adaptation with additional character stories that were not present in the original game. I was quite pleased. 😌
I was deep in the Iron Lung lore when the original game came out. It’s been a while since being immersed in that universe. But when I watched Iron Lung in theaters yesterday, I was hit with a wave of giddiness over that world I was hyper obsessed with 4 years ago.
There are too many BOBs in this world.

However, thinking about how many people are going to lose their original animation files is still so heartbreaking. Years of hard work—gone. (7)
We can function completely without Adobe. There are a plethora of other creative software options that are just as powerful and reliable, but without the predatory pricing. (6)
I have no choice but to find other alternatives for my students. Fortunately there are many open sourced and affordable options for animation software. Shoot several of my students in the past used free iPad apps for their animations, and they look fine. (5)
Granted I’ve always had my complaints for Animate/Flash over the years. It’s always been so clunky and down right nonfunctional at times, but I always believe it was a good starting point for people wanting to get into 2d animation. (4)
Additionally a lot of individuals and studios (both big and small) still use Adobe Animate to this day. This decision will negatively impact so many people. It’s absolutely absurd. (3)
Sure they have Adobe Character Animator, but it’s not the same. Obviously it is a mocap software, and makes animation overall “faster and easier”. However, you have little control over frame by frame animation, and there are no options to draw traditionally into the program itself. (2)
I am beyond disappointed with Adobe discontinuing Animate. I’ve used Adobe Animate to teach my students traditional 2D animation for 8 years. (1)

The film has grown on me over the years. It is beautifully directed and the vibes are immaculate. Though the idea of Guillermo del Toro directing an Amnesia movie would be absolute perfection. I would sell my goddamn soul to see it. (2)
I remember watching Crimson Peak in theaters, and at that moment in time I was obsessed with the Amnesia series. The aesthetics were similar to A Machine for Pigs, and that was what I desperately wanted. Though I did not expect “Gothic Flowers in the Attic” lol. I left the theater disappointed. (1)
