Roadmaker - laminated junior Town Planning for youngsters who yearned to feel the grit of real cardboard beneath their Matchbox wheels, composed of interlocking parts that should have been too big to 'lose' but found their way deep behind sofas regardless.

The cover of Nonesuch by Francis Spufford. It’s maroon, pink and gold. The image shows the dome of St Paul’s (referencing the famous Blitz photo) surrounded by what I can only describe as mystical swirls, and the image of a woman walking along a bridge in the sky.

I’ve just finished Nonesuch by Francis Spufford, which is both enormously entertaining and beautifully written. I normally take agin fantasy, but I’m a sucker for books about plucky young women in the Blitz, so I stuck with it and I’m very glad I did.

TV Tops - short-run putative channel-straddling non-compelling Look-In rival, notoriously home to a strip in which Kings Of The Wild Frontier-era Adam Ant was catapulted into deeply surreal post-Sapphire And Steel adventures pitting him against elemental forces.

A multi-view card with four quadrants. Top left is the suspended copper fountain in one of the interior courtyards, next to a bank of escalators. Top right is a shot of the roof garden with lawns and a water feature. Bottom left is an interior shot of one of the courtyards, with a prominent sign saying "Centre Court". Bottom right is an aerial view showing the centre from above - a square footprint surrounded by a large car park.

More than 40 years ago, I spent a night on a beanbag listening to Beryl Bainbridge reading one of her books from cover to cover.
But after all this time, I haven’t the foggiest idea which one it was.

"A lifelong smoker, who towards the end cut down to “only thirty a day or so,” she lived in a terrace in Camden, clotted with bizarre bric-a-brac including a buffalo’s head in the hallway and a lifesize dummy of Neville Chamberlain (which started out as Adolf Hitler, but was later repurposed)."

Ben Stiller is calling out the White House after it used a clip from Tropic Thunder in a video promoting the Iran war.

“We never gave you permission and have no interest in being part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie,” Stiller wrote.

So, in 1969, the Isley Brothers held a legendary soul & gospel revue at Yankee Stadium, released in cinemas in 1970, after which it was never put on video or online and was something of a holy grail. This week, an HD copy surfaced: Part One. Highlight: Patti Austin

Our troops are dying this isn’t a video game. The White House is posting so-called “hype” videos that mix real footage from the war in Iran with clips from movies and video games like Call of Duty. It’s an absolute disgrace.
