🚨NEW: How Trump made sure any tariff refunds you are now owed are likely to instead be pocketed by billionaires & the corporations that jacked up your prices.
Congress could make sure you actually get your refund - but so far, lawmakers are not defying the corporate lobby.

Gorsuch says Congress is the “bulwark of liberty.” But in 2024, he helped give presidents sweeping immunity from the laws Congress passes.

Rep. Greg Landsman is one of the only Democrats backing Trump’s war with Iran.
In a tough New Yorker interview, he struggles to explain why — saying he doesn’t trust Trump but still supports the military operation.
What the interview doesn’t mention: AIPAC is his top donor.
As war spending surges again, America’s largest weapons manufacturers are funneling more money to shareholders than into expanding production.
Quick H/T to @propublica.org's new financial disclosure search tool — which helped surface the ethics filing behind our DHS scoop. A former Anduril Industries insider is now overseeing Department of Homeland Security’s massive biometric surveillance dragnet.
🚨 Rep. Ro Khanna calls out Democrats trying to have it both ways on Iran: opposing the war publicly while still considering voting to fund it.
@rokhanna.bsky.social: “It is totally disingenuous… to say you're against the war but vote for the funding.”

Amid intensifying fears of Trump now launching a nuclear war, it seems worth pointing out that there’s been legislation in Congress since 2017 to prohibit a president from launching a preemptive nuclear strike without the explicit authorization of Congress.
Minneapolis residents are facing a growing food crisis. Fear from ICE is keeping families—especially elders, parents, and the homebound from groceries.
Feed Minneapolis funds trusted local food shelves and kitchens, with a goal of feeding 10,000 people in 2 weeks.

The US and Israel are winning the war against Iran, the problem is what will happen next. It seems more and more that the goal is just to turn Iran into another "failed state" in the Middle East. Not good for long term prospects...

Chris Murphy: "I think it's likely the United States that carried out this attack on this school. I think it's unforgivable under any circumstances, but the fact this was one of our first targeting decisions speaks to the incompetence of our leadership at the Dept of Defense."
PUYO, ECUADOR — Rosa Elvira Chuji Gualingai, 50, came to the city to pressure the government. Watching the traffic outside her office window, she says, “I can’t get used to this lifestyle.” The indigenous activist, leader of the Shiwiar community of Kurintsa, was raised deep in the Amazon rainforest, surrounded by towering ceibo and palm trees. With no roads, the only way to travel is up to six days by boat or to charter a plane. With little electricity and no plumbing, the Shiwiar bathe in the nearby rivers and live mainly by hunting and fishing. But this way of life is under threat, as the Ecuadorian government sells rainforest land to oil companies.
Why is Trump attacking Ecuador?
Same reason he’s in Iran + Venezuela: oil “secured” by force, sold as fighting a “dictatorship” and/or “drugs.”
Ecuador’s Indigenous organizers forced a pullback in drilling in 2019. Now they face the US military.

The Virginia legislature is actively working on this legislation but current versions—HB1263 & SB378—exclude home care workers + higher-ed workers.

The 3 States That Don’t Allow Charter Schools—and Why
Seems troubling.
More troubling would be the idea that the Administration might have bombed Iran without expecting this.

How can GOP Sen. Mike Lee write the thing on the left in 2020 & then say the thing on the right in 2025 & vote against a bill explicitly requiring the president to secure congressional authorization for an Iran War?
These people have literally zero principles.
Exactly 20 years ago, Alito was asked if a president could invade Iran without congressional approval or an imminent threat.
Alito asserted the "authority of the president to take military action on his own."
This is how the court may now legalize Trump's wars.

Mamdani & Talarico both ran explicitly against billionaires. Anti-oligarchy was the central theme of both of their campaigns.
It’s very on brand that the Abundance Guy l doesn’t acknowledge that and instead insinuates that their success is mostly about them just seeming nice.
