This is a good way to frame it I think. Because yeah we need outlets and narratives about punching nazis to keep us sane. But we also gotta be practical and can't just be content to live in our fantasies.
And it's really hard to do when you're used to most of your friends being in your phone. Maintaining connections with ppl in meat space is a lot harder but we gotta start doing it.
Community defense isn't just defense from physical violence it's defense from deprivation and abandonment. It's taking the time to care for eachother because no one else will. And it's WAY harder than becoming a gym rat or learning martial arts. Because often times. . .it's pretty tedious work.
I think the mistake a lot of us are making is trying to jump straight into action/planning before making friends and building rapport. And the sense of urgency is understandable. But it starts with having ppl over for dinner, joining hobby groups, shoveling your neighbors walkways.. .
How many people posturing about fighting fascists know who their neighbors are I wonder or where the nearest food bank is
