Ha! I was hoping you would tell me that yours were 6 and 9 and then I would have hope that next year will be easier!

How old are the children? Asking as a parent of a 5 and 8 year old who are still very much at the hindrance end of the scale!!

I can't find the words, but I am so sorry.

...reports, consent forms...I need to give this much more thought. Where can I find details about the webinars, please?

24.06.2025 12:49 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

...but we also need to be careful not to overinterpret either.

Maybe we have more in common on this than short statements will reveal, I share some of your concerns but we have nothing to go on other than self report when people are telling us about how their clothes make them feel (for example) and I think we need to be careful not to discount that...

20.06.2025 06:39 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Oh I absolutely think we should be careful about how they are diagnosed. It's a shame there isn't more OT assessment and support available to CYP.

So, a nocebo effect being where the 'treatment' (intervention/adaptation) makes things worse?

I'd hope we mitigate the risk of that by APDR...

I don't know...would we ask the same question or apply the same logic to migraines?

I've seen Newcastle's before which covers a few topics. And Notts have one for EBSA

Yes, this is a worry. I'm surprised it's still knocking around...

03.06.2025 19:45 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ah yes, okay, with you on that. Don't worry, I'm not recommending VARK (can no longer even remember what the R stood for!!) But 'voice of the child' still usually pretty central for me but with clear caveats around APDR and a good dose of common sense / evidence based practice too!!

03.06.2025 19:44 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I thought you might challenge me on this! Good point. What research are you referring to out of interest?

03.06.2025 19:38 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yes, I think you're right. Unfortunately, there's a whole industry around this...but what we can do is challenge misinformation.

03.06.2025 19:33 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

To be fair, I will support most things a child says they think will help! So maybe this is why I feel uneasy here. When they're saying "This helps" and I'm saying "No it doesn't".

03.06.2025 19:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

To clarify, I've never recommended them, but then nor have I ever really discouraged them if they are already in use. I have shared my understanding of the research though. You've made me think on this again though, thank you.

03.06.2025 19:23 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And if we accept their use as a placebo do we reduce the likelihood of them receiving the right support to develop their reading skills and the support they need to reduce that barrier in the classroom?

03.06.2025 19:10 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I grapple with this. Children tell me that the overlay helps them. Research evidence tells me that it doesn't and I'm not sure I've ever landed on a satisfactory response in this situation.

03.06.2025 19:07 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This is intriguing...I'd love to hear a bit more...!

01.05.2025 19:44 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Amazing, thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it!

02.04.2025 15:10 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I really enjoyed hearing you speak on this today and it gave me lots to think about - thank you. I think you mentioned a study (from King's College maybe) where students self referred for small group MH intervention - did I hear that right? Could you maybe point me in right the direction?

01.04.2025 18:48 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'd be very grateful, if you're sure. Would obviously give you / your service full credit for anything we magpie!

We are also looking to develop a stand alone session too, but also need to make sure everything we do / say is neuroaffirming. Do you mind me asking if you created the session from scratch? I couldn't find anything on the ELSA Network forum

17.02.2025 19:26 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So, is that a thread throughout the training rather than a specific session on working with neurodivergent CYP?

17.02.2025 18:55 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Do any #edpsychs offer training for their ELSAs that focuses on working with neurodivergent children and young people? Perhaps specifically autistic children and young people.

17.02.2025 16:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

What guidance is this, please?

09.02.2025 16:47 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I ordered this just before Christmas but I haven't started it yet. I'll move it to the top of the pile based on this review!!

03.02.2025 19:28 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No problem, I was impressed by it too.

I'll keep an eye out for them in the shops...thanks for the tip, Tony!

Oh yes, my mid afternoon coffee was scrapped by the end of Chapter 2 and I'm actually not missing it in the way I thought it would! If you haven't already seen it, others have recommended the Teen Sleep Hub website too
