The pain: Integrating economic insights into a legal paper is never easy. It is hard to avoid banality or oversimplification while presenting the interaction between law and economics in a way that makes sense to others.

In my paper, I examine the socioeconomic rights protected by EU law through an economic lens.
The joy: Writing the paper was challenging but incredibly rewarding. I genuinely enjoyed working on it.

Když něco definovat v zákoně, pak pořádně a nediskriminačně: Je fajn, že návrh nového zákona definuje juniorní výzkumníky. Ale pokud v ustanovení zákona není, že doba osmi let od obhajoby PhD se prodlužuje o dobu rodičovské dovolené apod, pak jde přinejmenším o nepřímou diskriminaci pečujících.
Vítáme zakotvení definice výzkumníků v rané fázi kariéry v návrhu nového zákona. S panem ministrem Markem Ženíškem jsme připravili potřebný pozměňovací návrh, kde by se doba 8 let od dokončení PhD prodlužovala o čas, kdy se výzkumník z důvodu péče nemohl vědě plně věnovat. 👨👧👦

An overview of my article in the Liverpool Law Journal has been published on the REALaw blog. In it, I argue the importance of independent judges in the EU legal order. It deals with the rule of law in the EU, but mostly I think the contribution is to our understanding of the rule of mutual trust
