A black-and-white character mischievously floats against a grayish-brown background, casting a drop shadow. They are a design for what the true form of the secret boss Shadoo from Super Paper Mario could look like. The robotic Shadoo's head is a toaster-like rectangular shape: their eyes are right triangle shaped with scalene triangle pupils and floating obtuse triangle eyebrows. The points of their eyes reach to their head's borders, and eyelash-esque diagonal lines extend from the hypotenuses. Below their eyes, a big wide V-shaped smile. Shadoo's torso is a janky, frail stack of blocks resembling a spine: their topmost 'spinal segment', or neck, resembles a battery with plus and minus icons on the ends. Shadoo wears a vest with a similar checkered pattern and star badge to Merlon and company, and simple shorts; a pair of open-ended wires make their legs. All these features make them resemble a brain and nervous system. Shadoo's arms, loosely connected about their head and neck, are made of pitch-black shadow and are coiled/wavy and baloon-like in shape, ending in large hands.

I wasn't born for 101 Dalmatians 1996's release, but I doubt they acted like the 60's version had never existed when that happened. Contrast now where it's oft like they go "What old version?" or "I mean you COULD watch the original but why would you WANT to when the new version is so much BETTER?"

I'm not even necessarily against revisiting concepts sometimes but Disney's remakes are cynical rehashes that as time goes on seem to have less and less respect to the artistry of animation

Much of Disney's animated canon movies are dated products of their time, to say the least, but I feel the live action remakes they churn out belie the hard work that had to have gone into the animated originals

i don't care how long ago it was. heinous actions are heinous actions, and i really prefer not to support people with that sort of history regardless of whether it aligns with their current self

Especially since it had been a decade following the Pokémon incident and the ramped up study and safeguards against harming photosensitive viewers. And somehow, even with 2 and a half decades of hindsight, some Mega-popular franchises like Spider-Verse are still messing it up

I feel like Paper Rad could have compromised and made everything less saturated and neon flashy and still kept the Paper Raditude of it all. With all that photosensitivity-unsafe imagery I'm surprised it made it to national kids television as is

When I was a kid I adored watching Problem Solverz and could handle the bright and busy style no problem, but now revisiting it as an adult hurts my eyes. I guess when it was airing I only really watched stuff on smaller tvs that weren't super bright
