We observe similar patterns among farmers affected by import restrictions on certain Taiwanese agricultural products.
The article is expected to be published in 2026. Interested readers can download the preprint from SSRN.
Using quarterly survey data from TEDS, we find that support among tourism industry workers increased significantly in the short term compared to other sectors—especially in (1) respondents traditionally aligned with the Pan-Blue coalition and (2) from cities receiving more government subsidies.
This short article has been accepted by the Journal of Peace Research. We investigates a straightforward question: After mainland China restricted individual travel to Taiwan, did Taiwanese tourism workers become more or less supportive of DPP? ssrn.com/abstract=446...
Since 2020 when I was a PhD student, I’ve been writing short Chinese summaries of academic papers on Weibo—nearly 200 in total. This habit has helped me tremendously. I’ve now compiled these posts into a Notion document titled An Invitation to Political Science.

More than 80 Harvard faculty members have signed on to a pledge to donate 10% of their paycheck to support staff and students, as long as the University resists Trump's unlawful demands. I am so proud of my colleagues. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

I happen to be teaching HK politics this and next weeks. This is a landmark case in state intervention to shape state-business relations in HK by labeling undesirable business activities as “unpatriotic”. open.substack.com/pub/wangxian...

If you're wondering how American (and Japanese, probably European too) online shopping and banking platforms are likely to fare in developing economies, and wondering how they will compare with Chinese versions, you will find this story very interesting....(1)
