I welcome the fact the first walk-in GP service has now opened. Such a service in the northwest of Glasgow could make a real difference in easing pressures and improving peopleβs experience. As such, I have asked the ScotGovt if they will consider such a service locally

Today in Parliament, I called for reform of Local Housing Allowance (LHA). LHA pays the rent in the private rented sector for low-income benefit claimants across the UK.Β

I am pleased that the Scottish Government has confirmed that Scotrail fares will be frozen for the financial year 2026-27.
This is further good news following the permanent abolition of peak rail fares.Β

The Scottish Govt try where they can to offer additional support to our unpaid carers. A good example is Carers Allowance Supplement. This is an extra payment, paid twice a year, to more than 96,000 carers in Scotland -Β it's not available anywhere else in the UK. More: https://mygov.scot/carers

So the 2-child cap is finally to be scrapped. I highlighted in Parliament the issues caused by this appalling policy back in my 2023 Members' Debate. It shouldn't have taken Labour so long to do the right thing.
However, I take nothing at face value and await full details.

Last week, I hosted a parliamentary roundtable event with MSPs + Govt officials to discuss the impressive contribution Glasgow Kelvin College makes to learners and our city economy. We found opportunities to support the College, to build on their current success. I will pursue this with the ScotGov

I submitted a motion in Parliament calling for the Abolition of the unelected House of Lords.
It continues to be an affront to democracy. Despite Labour pledging to abolish it for the last 115 years, they have delayed even the most modest reforms.
Its time is long up, it is time for it to go.
I asked the @scotgov about the work it is doing to support households at risk of fuel poverty. The investments being made are v. welcome.
It highlights the need for a Social Tariff.
The UK Govt, who have the powers, need to bring in a Social Tariff to lift 135,000 households out of fuel poverty

A big thank you to everyone who spoke with us today as we were out campaigning in Woodside. #ActiveSNP
It was good to meet again with @charitydebra.bsky.socialΒ this week at the Scottish Parliament where I hosted a reception.
We heard from those with lived experience of Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), and more about the work Debra are looking to take forward to improve the lives of those with EB.
Image with the title "Unemployment: A tale of two governments." showing an image of Keir Starmer with a rise of unemployment to 5%. This compares, with an image of John Swinney, unemployment falling to 3.7% in SNP-ran Scotland.
There has been significant concern over the UK Governmentβs National Insurance increases on employment. Despite that we have thankfully saw unemployment fall to 3.7% in Scotland. It has risen to 5% in the UK (ONS figures July to September).
