Abstract watercolor painting with rounded red shapes which blend into yellow at the center intermingled with teal ribbons on a white background. In between are lines of tiny dots of the same colors
This painting is called Molten Wings. It's part of a series I called Flow, which seems right for this week's #BlueSkyArtShow #Flowing theme

Three young girls stand ankle deep in a calm river at dusk towards the right. Ripples fan out from them. The near shore is muddy, but the far side is covered in reeds. A yellow pool donut with blue and red accents rests at the edge with two boogie boards and a log. Next to the log is a pair of shoes. In the reeds across the river, a heron is watching.
What's weird is that I'm pretty sure that same floatie is in the painting I just finished.

Woman sitting in a white bubble against the left side, surrounded by darkness. She's wearing a blue dress with a skirt that has far too much fabric to be real. It folds around, and where it's possible to see the inside at the hem, it's green. She has straight hair that fans out to the right. Her hair and dress mostly fill the bubble.

I found this piece again recently when I was looking for something else and realized that I hadn't taken a photo of it. It was a stylized self portrait from 20+ years ago.

Those are camellias, a very beautiful flower that looks similar to a rose. The colors can range from white to deep red, and they do not have thorns.

Important story by @eshockmanwrites.bsky.social
βWe had reached a saturation pointβ... ICE agents were βliterally swarming all over the schools, day in and day out, in the morning, in the middle of the day ... on the weekends. We just decided that we couldn't even have a bigger target on our back.β

Abstract watercolor flower with a splattered pastel background. The flower is painted with intense deep red and bright yellow. The leaves are dark teal. Over the colors, there are irregular patterns in black and white.

Watercolor painting of hills covered in new grass. Clouds come from behind the hills on the right to hide the blue sky. The clouds reflect morning light with hints of yellow and purple.
This is a second #Cloud picture for #BlueSkyArtShow with the clouds coming over the coastal hills.

Here's one cloud-focused painting that I called Kim's Hand. You can't see the hand without clicking to expand the picture, since it's on the far left.

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.
There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.
This is my favorite guide.

Watercolor painting of a snowy street at dusk. Two people are walking close together, with their shadows stretching in multiple directions from the yellow street lamps. The people appear as silhouettes against the snow.
I painted this based on a poem by my husband. I think the closeness of the figures is a counterpoint to the #Cold

Watercolor painting of a mermaid bending forward to dive further down. The water is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. Her hair is streaky yellow-blue, and her tail is red-orange with dots indicating scales and sparkle. Her fingers are webbed, and her skin is very pale.

Abstract painting of an oak tree on 20 8" square pieces of black watercolor paper.
Abstract watercolor painting. The middle has red loops with yellow and orange centers. Red, purple and blue wavy lines radiate outward, with blue and purple clouds at the edges.
Watercolor painting of a purple bearded iris with a yellow and green background. The iris extends very slightly beyond the edges of the picture.
Folded paper cutout in progress, with a woman sitting cross legged on the ground and vines growing around her. Above her head are clouds and the sun. A child has drawn a face on the woman's head.
The #BlueSkyArtShow theme is #OpenHouse today... so hard to decide.
Here are some things I enjoy. Quercus California (my combo of native California oak trees), Butterfly Escape, Purple Iris, and my unnamed paper cutout in progress when my daughter added a face for me when I wasn't looking.
