The Idaho legislature is largely made up of morons. There. I said it. Most of them do not understand law, they don't understand the Constitution, they don't understand religion. Their questions to some of the intelligent people commenting on this bill make that clear.
The religious freedom argument made by a Catholic gentleman discussing how the law would make it impossible for him to follow Jesus and the Pope in providing aid to the stranger is a powerful argument.
I'm watching some of the proceedings with members of the Idaho legislature regarding a proposed law which makes it illegal to provide aid to undocumented immigrants. A couple of things:
Some of my colleagues are testifying on this tomorrow. Like you said, it makes it illegal to help somone become legal. So dumb.
My wife found out a few weeks ago that an ultra-right neighbor's teenage boy had joined the military, and she cried about it, sure that he was going to go die in some useless war. I certainly hope that's not the case, but Trump has just made it much more likely.

The trick was in the algorithm. Use media, including social media, to make Trump seem strong and Harris seem weak. Target specific populations with specific messages. Not illegal, and highly effective.
I've become a bit of a fantasy snob as an adult, and a lot of the stuff I liked as a kid just isn't worth re-reading. But I still read Tolkien, GRRM, Hobb, Cooper, Le Guin every few years. Tried watching GoT but gave up on it pretty quick.
I was a big fan of fantasy growing up. I read the first GoT book in high school and it quickly became my 2nd favorite--second only to LOTR. It was clear that GRRM spent a lot of time getting each word and sentence just right--a blessing and, it turns out, a curse.
