There are 2 reasons we want Ukraine to cede territory
1. As we are so peaceful we are ofc willing let Ukraine surrender territory without us having to fight for it.
2. We can betray the deal by killing their soldiers while they're in the open pulling back, making the invasion that much easier.
OTD in 2001, as required by Budapest Memo on security assurances, Ukraine dismantled the last of its strategic weapons which were not handed to Russia to later be fired at them in the invasion we promised would never happen.
So we can be trusted with a peace treaty now.
