Perhaps now would be a good time to volunteer to be an AE for PLOS GPH. If the SEs at GPH have as hard a time getting AEs as we do at PLOS NTDs, I am sure they would be interested. I routinely carry 10-20 manuscripts as an SE so asking SEs to review as well as manage is a bit much.
