happy to be back in my studio after surgery 10 days ago. recovering fast & feeling so much better. I tend to turn to clay sculpture whenever I need to heal. For me the pace is slow & calming on my senses. This piece is loosely inspired by one of my fav leaf shapes ~ nasturtiums

“Under the Rose Wall” 24” x24” an Oil on canvas painting made in 2021. This piece showed at Bishop Museum in Honolulu as part of an exhibition for World Wide Walls, curated by Thinkspace Gallery. I wanted to create something depicting a place of safety and quiet to calm down the senses. The character is sort of nestled into this towering rose bush, shielded from harsh light, with two deer/ dog like creatures there to comfort each other. I’m really resonating with the feeling in this painting today as I search for a first image to share here ❤️
