If an obscure scientist in a tiny foreign land likes a No Kings post and flies to the U.S. 8 months later for a professional conference, they will be denied entry and detained. But if you assassinate a Democratic lawmaker in the Midwest, you can apparently disappear without a trace.
I point this out because the civility norms have ALWAYS been shit. They have ALWAYS been composed of lies.
The people you were told were angry and dangerous rarely were. There is no way to respectability yourself out of this.
Believe this of Alex Padilla now, and the next time someone tells you someone brown was scary and angry and shouting and they need to be censured... please remember that to certain people, the act of disagreeing while brown makes you nonhuman.

Their last survey has been integral to protecting LGBTQ+ rights globally.
I can't understate how big an impact it has. Multiple publications come from the data.

Or even better learn other languages solely so you (we) can be more welcoming to others even before they move to this country. The attack on modern language education is part of this orchestrated movement.
While I was at NSF, we weren't allowed to accept anything more than a coffee + pastry as it would be considered a conflict of interest. I was invited to give a short talk at a meeting sponsored by NSF that included lunch and I had to go grab a sandwich across the street to keep things clear.
