Two purple crocus flowers blooming against a wall.
Well, fer Jiminy's Cricket. There's still a foot of snow on the ground almost everywhere, but one warm day and this fella jumped up and bloomed itself in a little sunny corner. I'm in shock.
#WorldFigure update: Madison Chock/Evan Bates out, Caroline Green/Michael Parsons in - update per USFS, not reflected in the ISU entries list yet
Latest entries here: live.rockerskating.com/competition/...
Alysa Liu's withdrawal is official: isu-skating.com/figure-skati...
The Skating Session reports that Alysa has withdrawn from worlds, and Mark Hanretty mentioned that Chock and Bates will not compete in Prague either and then apologized and said he shouldn't have said anything. It will all be clear soon enough!
And here's Rio's short, that I really want to go viral. #WorldJFigure www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PCr...
I just had to go back and watch Rio's skate again, got goosebumps again. That 2nd triple axel landed *right* on the music!! It's so great to have fabulous people coming up from juniors to root for going forward. #WorldJFigure
Hah, I love the Welsh dragon on the fan banners for Rio. #WorldJFigure
Rio Nakata was STUNNING. I literally got goosebumps halfway through. That first quad Sal! #WorldJFigure.

Gosh, Rio Nakata takes my breath away. I can't wait to see him on the senior circuit. That short program deserves to go viral. #WorldJFigure
I'm watching Junior Worlds, on and off... I already have 3 new favorites, Daiya Ebihara, Jiarui Li, and Artur Smagulov (despite the (many, serious) mistakes). And extra credit to Matias Lindfors for the paint on his face to match the voidy program. #WorldJFigure
Melissa tells a part of the story behind our new book. When we first shared the dummy with our critique group, two people cried and three people said they wanted to start nature journals. @simonkids.bsky.social @ssedlib.bsky.social
Goodness, Nikolaj Memola got a buzz cut and dyed it blond. Well, if you can't get to the Olympics in your home country because you're injured, get a haircut, I guess.
And happy #bookbirthday wishes to illustrators of the above books, Jax Chow and Jamie Green, of course.
There are so many good books out today! Happy #bookbirthday @jarrett-lerner.bsky.social and @supriyakelkar.bsky.social's ROOHI AND NATE, @underwoodwriter.bsky.social's TINY GARDEN, Loree Griffin Burns' EXTREME BIRDWATCHING, and of course @mstewartscience.bsky.social's MONARCH AND MOURNING CLOAK :)
ABLA books that released today, March 3, 2026!!!
Happy book birthday to all of these incredible client titles!! π₯³π
Available in bookstores and libraries everywhere.
It's here! MONARCH AND MOURNING CLOAK: A BUTTERFLY JOURNAL emerges from its chrysalis today!
The full quote from today, answering the question, would you like to compete in France in 2030? "Yeah, I like France, I think, so yeah, I would like to." LOL love her
"I mean, I have no plans to leave yet. I can't imagine not skating next year, so." Liu continued, "I just feel so lucky that I get to do this. And I love being an athlete. It's the coolest thing in the world."
While she was there for the Today Show, Alysa Liu told NBC that she would like to compete at the 2030 Olympics. "I like France..." And they repeated what she said at the closing ceremony in Milan:
Cover of children's book Monarch and Mourning cloak shows monarch and mourning cloak butterflies and caterpillars on on orange background.
Cover of children's book Lolly on the Ice shows a young skater in front of the moon, followed by a dog.
Big weekend coming up! On Saturday, @mstewartscience.bsky.social and I will launch MONARCH AND MOURNING CLOAK: A BUTTERFLY JOURNAL at @silverunicornbooks.bsky.social! 11 am.
On Sunday, I'll be reading and signing LOLLY ON THE ICE at The Book Shop of Needham, 2 pm.
You're invited to both of these!
Inspired by Paula.
Thanks, Emma! It was so good to meet you!
Figure Skater Alysa Liu, smiling, in a gold sequined dress, wearing the Olympic gold medal, holding the American flag.
Cover of the picture book Lolly on the Ice. A little girl with red curly hair, an orange jacket and a yellow scarf with white stars skates in front of a big yellow moon. A happy dog follows her.
So I had two main ideas about promoting Lolly on the Ice. 1. Have it published right before the Olympics. 2. Have an American woman win the figure skating gold medal. So I would just like to take a moment to thank THE MAGNIFICENT ALYSA LIU for doing her bit for me. π Photo by YantsImages
Ooh, that looks so good! :)
Oh, I loved The Egypt Game so much as a kid. I read it again as an adult... still good!
4 books, all written by men, 3 of which were also illustrated by men.
Are there any 2026 books by women you're excited about? I'd love to see them. #wondering
"These bills arenβt about removing books; books are just one of the tools. These bills are about the complete and total erasure and removal of queer people from American life."
