In Germany, cost for screening tests for one positive PCR-confirmed case were 190,000€ ! Again, confirmed by Quarantine: "Infection rates in school-based contacts were low, with very few school contacts testing positive". And not talking about false-positives...
Crick used PCR - that would not be feasible on a large scale. Most of the programs used antigen tests with much less accuracy. The Quarantine RCT explicitly states that "Daily contact testing of school-based contacts was non-inferior to self-isolation for control"
Is there any evidence that large-scale testing of asymtomatic individuals did significantly reduce community transmission of COVID ? I think it was just a huge waste of money - but proof me wrong ! Maybe in specific settings ?
