ResearchEd is back in Norfolk! π
An interesting read.
I really like Markβs comment about teacher agency over autonomy.

βPerfect is the enemy of goodβ is a phrase Iβd like to steal. A good reminder that itβs never perfect first time round. Enjoy your new job @ensermark.bsky.social. I agree, itβs the best job!
This is very true in geography. For example we decided we will all teach a lesson on local, national and international impacts of climate change. We wrote our own lesson about impacts on the Norfolk coastline. We might all use the same national example then our preference for international.
Weβre similar. Our curriculum is collaboratively mapped. We share resources across our Trust and some elements are essential teaching but with autonomy over delivery or specific examples we use. We then complete the unit with lessons of our choice or centrally shared ones. I think it works well.
Itβs also had a positive impact on teacher workload. Thank you.

Huge thank you to @internetgeography.bsky.social for their incredible resources. We are super happy with our results and in part this is thanks to the amount of homework our students did. We used the revision boost booklets and interleaved the topics across the 2 years.
Absolutely LOVE this. What a fabulous room. Adding to my list of requirements when we moveβ¦
Just discovered something useful for anyone using an Apple device - if you click on the βshareβ arrow under a post, you can save it in a new note in the notes app. Helpful if youβre like me and bookmark loads of posts you never remember to look at again!

We did this last September - changed it from Ethics (inherited subject title when I joined) to Religious Studies.
Hey, new #edusky users, on bluesky, reposting matters more than on Twitter. If something is reposted, it makes it more likely more people will see it. If you like it enough that someone else might like it, repost it!

Fantastic opportunity.
Thrilled to be working with the edu-legend that is @hugheshaili.bsky.social on a new book on teacher retention - titled βLove The One Youβre With: Why Teachers Stay and What We Can Learn From Themβ. Weβre currently interviewing teachers of 20+ years - get in touch if youβd like to be involved!

A post here on why breadth of knowledge is more important than learning definitions - we need stories in our heads to furnish the concepts we know.
