Mine was called a Footsie and it had a red bell on the end (late '60s/early '70s)
My late mother had an animatronic cat while she was dealing with dementia in the final year of her life. She named it Lesley (after me 😢) and it gave her great comfort.
They did it a few years ago on the 501 (at least here in the east end) though some of the choices they made were a bit odd.
