Conference instructs the Green Party to: Support the increase of Carers Allowance to a living wage for unpaid care provided, including by young carers, and supports an end to means testing and an end to the removal of parts of the cared for persons welfare payments. Support a change in the eligibility for Carers Allowance, reducing the amount of hours of care required to from 35 to 20, and allowing any carer to claim carers allowance, regardless of income from employment, education or training status. Acknowledge that carers who are members of one or more marginalised groups are more likely to suffer social, economic and health effects due to their caring. To support a mandate in law that all schools must have a ‘Designated Young Carers Lead’ to provide support, as called for by the Young Carers National Voice network. Recognise the challenges carers of all ages face in regards to mental health and demand more frequent wellbeing appointments with Carers to check on their mental and physical health and more support for public sector organisations such as schools to signpost better mental health support for carers Recognise there is a lack of training around consulting and informing carers on patient care at all levels of the NHS and social care, and therefore support making funds available for mandated carers training in all patient-facing roles in the NHS and Social Care, including around Hospital Discharge and End-of-life care. Support the writing into law of a carers right to respite and short breaks from caring, such as those seen in the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, whilst insuring the cared for person will be looked after in their usual setting. Support the campaign by Carers UK to make Carer Status the 10th protected characteristic.

2. International

I was selected as one of the @greenparty.org.uk's delegates to the @europeangreens.eu Congress in Lisbon.

It was great to see and hear from greens from across Europe, with especially important stories from Ukraine and Serbia.

1. Canvassing (and lots of it)

Some of you may know I'm the Green Candidate in Graves Park ward, Sheffield.

We've been out and about talking to residents across the ward, hearing their priorities come rain or shine (although we had to draw the line at Black Ice this week).

TPE is operated by the government, it's time the government put its money where its mouth is and invested in new rolling stock to replace the remainder of the 3 car diesel Class 185s.

The same goes for Northern, also nationalised, often relegated to 3 cars on busy journeys.

I'm disabled, I can't stand for long periods, so rather than stand for the entire journey, I was forced to sit in the only space in my coach, the floor, by the door.

This isn't good enough. South Transpennine services have suffered overcrowding for years.

Today, I had the pleasure of having to sit on the floor of a Transpennine Express train from Stockport to Dore.

The train was delayed and packed to the rafters, and to add insult to injury, there were only 3 cars all the way from Liverpool to Scunthorpe.
