it's insane that my country's current position is that, if we don't like the leader of a sovereign nation, not only do we get to kill them we get to pick their successor
ive been avoiding posting abt him but like. platner is just obvious proof that we never got to choose our "elected" representatives. they were always prescribed to us. if you think you have an actual say in your government, no you dont
High water consumption in The Dalles, Oregon For a year during 2022-2023, the US city of the Dalles, OR, fought βThe Oregonianβ newspaper in court trying to keep secret the public records of how much water it supplied to Googleβs data centers located there. Google had paid for the cityβs legal expenses incurred suing βThe Oregonianβ and Google also paid for the settlement, which made public that Google was consuming 29% of the cityβs water. That amount of water could cover the city to a depth of 2 inches/5 cm, according to βThe Oregonianββs coverage. Around that time Google disclosed in its corporate environmental reports some data about its water usage, which all the Big 3 had previously refused to disclose.
I wish it was more widely known that Google fought like absolute mongrels against media outlets to avoid disclosing water consumption data - the only reason they disclose that data now is because they were pressured by activists and journalists

Utility costs out here in Virginia have become a serious local issue over the last year. We're not immune to affordability problems, even in northern virginia.
"Water consumption fears are false and overblown."

Dead City, my sophomore album, is now available everywhere.
This album is about grief and loss, and the collapse of everything. But also about being able to put yourself together again after that. Iβd really like you to hear it.

Telling courts that refunds would be "automatic" and "assured" was the government's way of avoiding emergency relief.

Tweet by ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl @jonkarl In a lengthy phone interview, President Trump marveled at the success of the military operation against Iran and expressed no concern about what comes next. "I hope you are impressed," he said to me. "How do you like the performance? I mean, Venezuela is obvious. This might be even better. How do you like the performance?" I said _nobody questions the success of the military operation_, the concern is what happens next. "Forget about next," he answered. "They are decimated for a 10-year period before they could build it back." 3:26 PM Β· Mar 5, 2026 Β· 71.8K Views https://x.com/jonkarl/status/2029654727093325965

we were worried about a second exxon valdez under trump 1 and now like idk where are we anyway
A longtime Interior Department official is on leave after he warned that the agency that oversees oil rigs in the waters off Alaska was dangerously understaffed, according to two people familiar with the situation. Justin Miller, who has headed the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement's Alaska office since 2022, went on leave just days after POLITICO reported he had publicly warned agency counterparts that his office lacked the staffing to oversee existing oil operations in Alaska - let alone a massive expansion being pushed by the Trump administration.
days away from the anniversary of exxon valdez, trump is ousting the guy warning everyone that oil rig safety efforts in alaska are dangerously understaffed

This is where I grew up (Botetourt County) and to see the local government sell off the lifeblood of the place is just awful and not surprising.
