This is my nothing to do with my job hobby! That being said, I stick with baseball gamers and most of the tables are hockey. It’s a great event, especially if you want to see some cool pieces of history.

I’ve proven over my 3+ terms that I will vote for a good school aid bill regardless of what party sponsors it. This budget is not it. They say budgets mirror your values & priorities, this budget prioritizes smoke & mirrors & political games over student, safety, and achievement.
In the House, we took up HJR-B, the Michigan version of the federal SAVE Act. This legislation could prevent tens of thousands of legal Michigan voters their ability to register to vote. The measure required a 2/3 majority yes votes and was defeated because House Dems stood strong and voted no.
Yesterday, I spent some time at Silver Springs Elementary in Northville with three fifth grade classes teaching how a bill becomes a law. I used Michigan’s “Hands-free” law of 2023 to give them a real life example. The kids asked great questions and I had a wonderful time.
Today, I alongside my colleagues, @ranjeevpuri.bsky.social and Reggie Miller, joined thousands of Western Wayne residents who showed up in a big way in Canton to make their voices heard. We lined the sidewalk along Canton Center and streets across the country to tell Donald Trump, #handsoff
A parade of individuals and organizations who parrot unsubstantiated claims about our elections and legislation that would create a modern day poll tax: the House Election Integrity Committee is off to a rough start.
We capped off a great March is Reading Month with stops at Hoover and Randolph Elementary Schools in Livonia. Thank you to all schools for welcoming me in to read to some awesome kids!
After Declan’s tragic death, the Carters have been raising money to build a new playscape at Ford Field Park. You can help them here:

What a great evening for Northville! We Started Saturday night at the Northville Firefighters Charity Ball and ended at the Marquis Theater for Declan’s Dance.
Thank you to Secretary of State @jocelynbenson.bsky.social for joining us at the Plymouth Library to listen to and discuss the concerns of Michigan residents regarding the SAVE Act at the federal level as well as HJR-B currently in the Michigan House.
Yesterday, every single Michigan House Republican voted to cut $5,147,387.40 from the education budget and to defund higher education.
But they don’t want you talking about that. That’s why they want you to focus on this.
Zero. This was a statement of House Republican values, and it was a sad statement at that.
Every Michigan House Republican just voted to defund our schools by over $5 billion.
We know because the right-wing think tank, Heritage Center keeps a database…and their data shows 68 cases of non-citizen voting dating back over 40 years.
The question stands, how many thousands of Michiganders should lose their right to vote to make the GOP whole?
My explanation of my opposition to HJR-B: a resolution to require proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. This destructive measure would absolutely create barriers to vote for legal voters and I will be voting no, both in committee, and on the House floor.
You are not pro-student, pro-child, or even pro-life if your endgame is to defund education.
At last night’s State of the State, I welcomed Northville City Councilman John Carter and his wife, Liz Carter as my guests on the House floor.
Long time listener, first time caller 🏆🤣
Once again, data is backing up the effectiveness of Michigan’s hands-free law. This law, and similar laws in other states work. They save lives and make our roads safer.

I’m solidly opposed and will vote no on any record roll call for this.

We started our morning at Winchester Elementary in Northville to present our Teacher of the Month award to Emily Eckley. Ms. Eckley was nominated by one of her students because she is so helpful and always helps her students do their best! 🧵1/2
We received our committee assignments today. I am honored to serve and work on the important issues that will be brought before them.
Today, I introduced a resolution to condemn the blanket pardons of those who carried out the J6 insurrection attempt. They not only assaulted police officers, but attempted to overthrow democracy itself. The chaos coming out of DC is not good for Michigan, let alone, America.
My district has 100’s of local restaurants, and notably the downtowns of Northville & Plymouth. We are home to restaurants, workers & owners alike.
Changes do need to be made here, but I cannot support a bill that eliminates sick leave And lowers the floor on minimum wage.
Last week, @govgretchenwhitmer.bsky.social signed HB 5231-5234 and my bill, HB 5269. These bills increase transparency for charter schools. These bills were the first measure of transparency for charter schools in a generation.
Today, we reflect on and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
We have officially begun the 103rd Legislature. It is an honor beyond words to serve the residents of Plymouth, Northville, and Livonia.
Back. To. Back.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
