Curious–which snow tires do you use around here?

Good to see you there!
Was at this same intersection last week on my bike and a car ran a red light moments before I pedaled onto this same cross walk. Must be fixed and glad your daughter was spared
Last night, on the corner of Alewife Brook Parkway and Powderhouse Boulevard, my older daughter was struck by a driver.
She was crossing in the crosswalk – with the WALK signal – and the car ran the red light. Miraculously, she was okay and walked away with nothing worse than a bruise.
Nooooo! Love the Q

Sen. Markey, science saves lives. The US needs science. @edmarkey.bsky.social
In our most recent episode we talk with Bill Zamer and Sam Scheiner, two former BIO program officers at the NSF, about the recently proposed 56% budget cut to the NSF.

tl;dr — this EO co-opts the language of open science to implement a system of political control wherein presidential appointees are given broad latitude to designate any number of reasonable scientific activities and inferences as scientific misconduct, and to penalize those involved accordingly.

Surely an analysis of language use could be done among responses?
Want to know why Republicans are voting on their Big Billionaire Bailout in the middle of the night? MSNBC just reported that it includes a $500 Billion dollar cut to Medicare.

Awesome job, thanks for sharing stories about the tangible benefits of research
Done!

Go to the link if you don’t want your NSF or NIH program officers who took an oath to the constitution (not a political party) to instead be subject to the whims of a president and fired if they don’t “conform”.

Two days remain to comment on the US FWS and NMFS rule change that undermines the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This proposal rescinds the definition of “harm,” limiting protections to actions that directly injure or kill listed species, leaving their habitats vulnerable. Please submit comments! 🧪
I know NIH is ~5x bigger than NSF but I think the gutting of NSF is getting a lot less than 1/5 the attention— in the news media and in higher ed— compared with what's happened to NIH.
Thread with an email being sent to @asn-amnat.bsky.social @sse-evolution.bsky.social @systbiol.bsky.social members today calling for a Tri-society week of action for NSF:
Dear members:
The tri-societies (ASN, SSE,SSB) are running a ‘Week of Action for NSF’. Your engagement is crucial.
Action Alert: Ask Your U.S. Representative to Support Investment in NSF www.congressweb.com/AIBS/3?frame...
I participated in @aibsbiology.bsky.social congressional visits day last week and I have hope for bipartisan support for science. But we need everyone who supports science to call/meet their reps and senators and ask for 9.9 billion for NSF and 7.5 billion for NOAA.
