One of the central questions in the piece: what might real accountability actually look like right now?

The rule of law isn’t optional
Trump ignored Congress to launch an illegal war on Iran & now he’s ignoring Congress again to tear down the Kennedy Center
We’ve asked the court for emergency relief to stop the latter
I discuss on my Publisher's note on @contrariannews.org -TN
There are systemic impacts and risks for all survivors and our larger accountability systems involved in the Epstein files / sex trafficking DOJ debacle. How can we center survivors and begin to think about course correcting? I wrote about this in a new piece for Ms. msmagazine.com/2026/03/06/e...
Massie on Newsmax: "We're not getting the answers we need from Pam Bondi. I just spent 3 hours at the DOJ this week looking at the unredacted files. And I'm finding evidence of files they haven't released yet." (Note that the Newsmax anchor agrees with him!)
If nobody gets injured - no gashes or fur everywhere - they are fine.
‼️ The DOJ has withheld more than 40,000 files of documents from the Epstein files, including FBI documents that detailed a woman’s unverified allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump.

historically, the us (among others of course) has expanded to breaking-point the definition of self-defense & sought to justify using force outside security council authorization. there was at least an effort at legal justification in a way understandable within the law. nothing of the sort here.
the brilliance of the UN Charter's ban on and conditions for use of force -- legitimate individual or collective self-defense, or Security Council authorization -- is that it challenges governments to justify what is the most devastating use of state power. it's also intuitive.
This is disheartening
Marc Elias: "Today was an important day for the opposition movement. The law firms that stood up against Donald Trump threats won. Those that capitulated and collaborated with Trump will need to explain to future generations why, when democracy was at stake, they were such cowards"
Sounds reasonable…
#ICE and DHS continue to operate like Trump’s personal military force. Congressman Robert Garcia explains there are currently over 500 credible abuses and misconduct by ICE alone.
Rules of engagement prevent those pesky things called war crimes…
“Large firms represented plaintiffs in 15% of cases challenging Trump EOs between the start of his term in January and mid-Sept, compared with roughly 75% of cases during a comparable period in Trump’s first term.” (involving topics from scientific research to health benefits) /3
Since last year, “dozens of major law firms, wary of political retaliation, have scaled back pro bono work, diversity initiatives and litigation that could place them in conflict with the Trump administration, a Reuters investigation found.” /2
“I picked those drapes in my first term—I always liked gold."
Donald Trump used a Medal of Honor ceremony on Monday, meant to honor three Army soldiers, to gush about the drapes he will add to his new ballroom in the White House’s East Wing.
This is why the Founders gave Congress, and only Congress, the power to take US into war.
The point, embedded in the Constitution, is that the US should only go to war when the people decide to do so through a majority of their representatives.
One man doing it is antidemocratic and dangerous.
An illegal, unconstitutional war launched while illegally & unconstitutionally monetizing the presidency at his hotel, all while the military & paramilitaries are illegally & unconstitutionally occupying our cities, all while illegally & unconstitutionally trying to…etc. etc. etc.
Timeline and spirit cleanse…
The thing about the U.S. and Israel is that both of their leaders are trying to stay out of prison.
4/9. The Iranian operation in 2020 was designed to help Donald Trump get elected.
1/9. In 2020 Iran did try to interfere with the presidential election.
"There are reports that the bombing of a girl’s school in southern Iran has killed as many as 85 people, most of them innocent children. We are spilling the blood of the very people we are promising to liberate. Are we really expecting to be someday greeted with rose petals?" @willbunch.bsky.social
We need to ban these markets.
Yup. They did this in Iraq too - pictures on the front page of the NYT of women ripping off their burquas. Then, years later after er created extensive carnage - we abandoned Iraqi women and girls completely.
This tidbit seems pretty important right now - though i doubt there is anyone left in the administration that actually knows anything about the actual Iranian government structure - it is all just about flexing on the world stage - risking American lives and the entire global international order.
They don’t give a damn about the security of our troops or country so why bother. It’s all a just a content engine for them.
Trump actually looks like he had been propped there. And someone did a criminal makeup job on him with that cheek bronzer. Nightmare.
