Plated trainers and runners are crazy good. I use the Hoka Mach x3 for flatwork training - amazing

Another side effect of plated shoes is they have a crazy high stack - so easy on the knees as well

Peak week for the training block for Barcelona

This weeks goal was to load up hard efforts and hills and start today tired to simulate the fatigue and effort of a full race w/o the biomechanical stress

Worked

This was a hard fucking run

Held pace but walked the recovery mile

Had a cracker of a run last night

Was sick and missed some critical runs

Frustrated, I wanted to press a bit and set a PB for 10mi!

1 more long run and then gradual taper

Speed work has been hard and fun but really looking forward to stacking vert and miles after this race

Yea I’m a firm believer in the waking recovery on vo2 max style sprint/interval.

When doing hill sprints I usually do a 15-30sec walking recovery and then a jog down and repeat.

For same reason @doodahdog.bsky.social mentions - get heart rate down so have capacity for hard next sprint

Fire tower and the conditions the runners are dealing with.

Freezing fog and the bone chilling cold these conditions create.

The high moisture content and cold conditions wick away and pretence of warmth from even the best gear

The dreadmill whooped my ass on speed work pacing - wiped

Next week is peak of flat training before start gradual taper leading into Barcelona Marathon in March

Can’t believe im saying this but treadmills are an amazing pacing tool

Love it as a tool - still hate running on it
