To note:
Both Micheal Martin and Simon Harris said we would have “close to 40,000 houses built” in 2024.
Before the election, govt repeatedly dismissed reports that house completions in 2024 would be closer to 30,000 .
The number of houses built last year DECREASED by 6.7% according to the CSO.
A total of 30,330 homes were built in 2024.
Ireland’s governing coalition got off to a rattled start today as its new member, a loose-cannon group of rural independents, insisted on holding positions in both the government and the opposition.

Independent Ireland TD Michael Fitzmaurice says his technical group would welcome Carol Nolan and Mattie McGrath should they decide to follow Aontú out of the Regional Technical Group.
If they leave Michael Lowry's Regional Technical Group would be down to four, and lose speaking rights in the Dail
He has joined another group, that includes Paul Gogarty and others.
It appears part of the solutio is that Michael Lowry and Regional Independents will get 8 minutes of speaking time rather than 10.
Meanwhile, confirmation today that Sunday Times political editor Hugh O'Connell, will join the government press office.
Dail now to resume at 4pm - let's see if they manage to sit for longer than 2 minutes this time.
Amid all the chaos in the Dail today, Aontu has now decided to remove itself from the technical group with the Regional Independents.
